I had two days off work this week and hunted with my two stepsons on a farm owned by their uncle. On Tuesday I whiffed on a big buck but killed a doe at about 125 yds. She ran about 30 yds and piled up. Wednesday this 10 pt (11 if you count the little kicker) and another ran out in front of me and I was able to make the shot on him at about 70 yds. The two bucks had been running for an unknown reason so their adrenaline was up. They both took off at the shot and I found him about 80 yds away. He died on the side of a steep hill so I had to field dress him then drag him to the top and load him. Man, are my legs sore today! He was very old and only had four teeth at the front of his mouth on the bottom.
My oldest stepson also got a 10 point. He used a Remington 7600 35 Whelen with Hornady 200 gr Superformance ammo. One shot at about 150 yds. He said the buck dropped like a rock. In the picture of them in the garage, mine is closest to the camera. The sasquatch looking critter in the photo is my youngest stepson.
I used my Tikka T3x 6.5 Creedmoor and Sierra factory ammo loaded with 140 TGKs. Very pleased with the bullet's performance on both animals.
