He was delicious
I brined overnight: saltwater, garlic, thyme,onion
Then brined overnight in buttermilk
Spatchcocked
350 for about 20-25 minutes 130 degrees
Homemade bbq sauce

I would shoot another anytime

Some may have seen this in the 7mm bullet test thread. I shot this old buck in Alabama on January 17th with a 168gr AccuBond LR from a 7mm PRC. Members of the club had been calling him Unibrow and three other hunters had shot and missed him within the last couple of weeks. Great way to start 2025!

Mike, many years back I hunted Bluebills on Long Island Sound between Long Island, NY and Connecticut. I also hunted them in Florida when they occasionally show up. When their in fresh water they are just about edible. When their in salt water they are basically inedible. I've tried a couple of different ways to cook them and the only thing I can say is Blaaaaaah!!!!!

We shot a few iguanas in Puerto Rico a couple days ago. I have some better pictures of the second day, where we shot twice as many, but its from my kids Iphone so I have to figure out how to change them to a usuable format.

Went hunting with a buddy from work at my hunt club in SC yesterday. Slow start, we only heard one gobble and he barely responded to his call. We repositioned to a different area and saw a turkey strutting on the road next to a small pair of food plots. We slinked off the road and called a little. Two turkeys literally came running down the road to us. One was legal and the other wasn't and they got within 30 yards but I couldn't quite get a shot at the legal bird. They put on a show though gobbling & strutting. They lost interest and went back to the food plots. We eventually snuck a little closer and three started making their way down the road to us. The lead turkey had a nice beard and I flattened him at 28 yards. Beard measured 9.5 inches and 3/4 spurs. Only my second turkey ever. All together we saw nine gobblers, it was an incredible morning. Not all were legal, new regs this year require minimum 6 inch beard & a full fan. Used my new Mossberg 835 Turkey 12 GA, Indian Creek choke & 3" Apex #9 TSS. I got one more tag, so fingers crossed for another. I'm cooking turkey nuggets tonight! It's amazing how beautiful the feathers are on these birds.
