243 powder choice??

UPS just dropped off some 86 grain E-Tips for the 243.
Several powders listed in the Nosler book.
Just wondering what powder to start with so asking for some direction with somebody with more 243 experience than I have. Which is very little.

it looks these must be 90 gr E-tips you just bought , I don't see 86 gr listed . here is a quickload powder chart . I used IMR7828 in my sons 243 with a 100gr Partition , it worked well for me .if you try it be sure to get the short cut IMR7828ssc , save yourself a headache . it looks like RL17 would be another choice for me , since I already have it . if you have RL26 I'd try it first , it looks to be worth about 50FPS . hope this helps .

I will check to see if I can find the load we used with 95gr. Partitions, I believe we used IMR4350 and great success in terminal performance. I believe that the moa was right round .5 as well.

I use 41.0grs. of RL17 powder with a Barnes 80gr. TTSX seated at 2.620" and getting a 0.300" 3-shot group @100yds. With the copper bullet they like a jump from the lands.

IMR4350 is my go powder in 6mm Remington . H4350, H4831SC, and H100V\ should work. Used H100V in my sons 6mm with 90 gr Etip.

Thanks for the info folks. Looks like there are quite a few go to powders for the 243. Should make for some good time at the reloading and shooting benches.

H4831sc worked very well in mine with 90 BT's. I think I used imr4064 with Sierra 85 gr bullets, would have to double check my notes to be sure. I wouldn't hesitate to try either with those 86 gr Noslers.

For both my 85gr Partition loads and my 90gr AB loads I'm using IMR4350.

The AB's are flying out at 3175fps with .4" 5-shot groups.

Stopped trying different one's on that but the list given earlier is a good start.

.4 5 shot group would be a dream group for me. If I can go 1" for three I'm happy.
I've got most of the powders listed so hopefully something will work.

I went to the powder store today to restock some powders I'm getting low on . I gotta admit , after seeing the RL26 velocity , I bought 1 pound to try in a few of my rifles . good luck Alderman , let us know how you make out on this .
