Who has the .277 bullet with the highest BC that is not made by Berger?
( This is not a trick question, lol)

You'll need a fast twist barrel for the good ones though!

Don't know, but the 140 AB and 150 BT are pretty decent hunting bullets E. I've taken deer with both and like them a lot.

Thanks 7271, those look fantastic!
Scotty,
What are your thoughts on ABs if the shot turns out to be 500 yds??? Will it still open up correctly?

Yes, yes and yes!

That 140 AB will work well.. It's one of the best in a 270 as far as I'm concerned, it'll open, has good BC and is pretty danged tough if heavy bone is struck.

Well I do have s bag of them! Now to decide on powder??? Because this 270 of mine only has the darn short 20" barrel to burn powder in, knowing its s shorty, just wondering if the RL 25 is going to be the right stuff? Is 3000 fps realistic with a 140 AB?
E

A load of 60 gr RL22 gave a 130 NPT 3050 from the 20" barrel of my Ruger 270 UL.

Today as long as I'm starting over I'd probably start with RL23 or H4831.

Re17, H414, IMR 4895 should work well in your shorter
Barrel. It will probably be hard to get to 3k

That is music to my ears! I dont have any RL 22 but could get it if you dont come up with something better! Be fun to try it just to see if I could get 3K outta my little ultralight as well !

Bear 78,
I have a new 8lber of H 414, so any ideas where to start, or pet loads welcome. I have used W760/ 414 for years in my 243, but cant remember ever using a anything but O conners two loads! 60gr of 4831/130gr or 58gr 4831/150gr........

I'd start around 47-47.5gr and work up of h414. I use a lot of 414 in several cartridges from 25 WSSM to 375 RUM.

The new IMR 4451 might be a real winner for you, temp stable and CFE to keep copper fouling down.

   Excuse me for laughing Earle I'm laughing with you not at you. I had no idea what was going on in the reloading world till I came here and I have been reeducated on a lot of stuff and have been embarrassed more times than I like to admit. Thank goodness the guys over look my lack of knowledge of the evolution of reloading and are more than willing to reeducate me. (y)

IMR has released several new powders with what they are calling "Enduron" technology. The trend is for temperature stable powders, and this meets the criterion for IMR. All the major suppliers are getting into the picture with these newer powders. Some are very valuable for the serious hand loader.

Really great info and once again it comes out there is some very knowledgeable dudes on this website, just about anyone can learn ALOT on here. The avg guy that thinks he has this all figured out is going to get his eyes opened wide with some of the pros on here decide to share what may have taken them years to learn....
I know it has been great for me . plus the fact you can meet some awful good guys on here!

Can anyone shed any light on the merits of these new Accubonds LR 270 bullets with a .625 BC!!!
These appear to have Kansas branded all over them! WoW!

I've tried them. Tried pretty hard to like them. Buy a box. I'll help you as much as I can. They really should help you get some legs.

Thanks Scotty!
I think I have got to try them! Gosh I wonder how they would be using the Z600 reticle? Talk about long and lean every young mans dream! (y)

Any kill details on this bullet? I am wanting to vaporize Yotes in the high wind days. Do they open up enough? Thanks.
