nephew just moved back to washington and has a 270 win that he wants to handload for, 150 hornady spire points is all i have they were in the bottom of a box i bought at a yard sale. i dont have a 270 so what i would like is some recipes.

H 4831 is the classic 270 Win powder so would be a good place to start. I like IMR 7828 ssc with 150's, my current load with the 150 gr Ballistic Tip is 60 gr IMR 7977. It's a bit compressed but shoots well at around 2900 fps. Lot's of guys are raving about RL 26 with 150's and heavier, seems 3000 + fps with excellent accuracy is the norm. It's on my radar to give it a try when some shows up locally.

The 150 Hornady is an awesome great overall bullet for the 270 win. Works on deer and Elk beautifully.
I have had good luck with 7828 SSC also and I have also had really good luck with MagPro.
The 4831 s and anything in their burning range and slower could be like ice cream and apple pie.

H4831 is the classic powder for the 270 Win. RL22 is another top choice.

When I owned a 270 I fed it lots of H4831. Also had a lot of luck with RL22 all with 130 grain bullets. If I were to shoot 150's I'd have to check out RL26, people have been getting great results with that combo.

Norma MRP.. If you can find it. I found a 8lb'r on clearance at our local Sportsmans Warehouse. I used it for some 150gr Speer Grand Slams, velocity was in the mid 2900's and not even at max.. very close though. If I wanted to push it I could have got 3000. Working on some 145gr ELDX's right now..
Take care

Another alternative I used with that bullet in my 270 Win was R17. Mine needed quite heavy loads to reach book speeds so I won't write down the load I was using, but kick off around 50 to 51g or thereabouts.

CCI standard LR primers and I was using WW brass which is pretty roomy.

In all contingencies however, H4831 will not let you down with 150 grainers in the 270 Win.
