Any recommendations for .270 Winchester Sako model 75 Hunter 22" barrel for IMR4831 and the 130 grain Partition? I currently use 57.5 grains in Winchester and Remington brass with CCI 200 primers and the 130 grain ballistic tip to get sub MOA and 3040 fps. Can I expect the same with the Partition? Any suggestions to get to 3200 fps with 130 grain Partition?

I just loaded some 130 grain partitions for my M70 featherweight 270win. I am going to try 56.5/57/57.5/58grains of RL22. My "winny" tends to run pretty slow, so I can usually(not always) run my maxes a little higher.
I would think that you should obtain over 3000 with 130 grain partitions with your 130 gr Ballistic Tip load, no problem. Accuracy? Hard to say, You will have to shoot em and find out! Let us know how it goes and welcome to the forum!!

Thanks for the feedback. I have also tried RL22 with 130 grain Balistic Tips and Partitions in my .270 Winchester with the following combinations:

130 grain Balistic Tip - group sizes from .75" to 1.3" (100 yards)

57.5 grains RL 22 Remington brass CCI 200 primer = 3006 - 3049 fps
58.0 grains RL 22 Remington brass CCI 200 primer = 3074 - 3082 fps
58.5 grains RL 22 Remington brass CCI 200 primer = 3113 - 3116 fps
58.5 grains RL 22 Remington brass CCI 200 primer = 3113 - 3116 fps
59.0 grains RL 22 Remington brass CCI 200 primer = 3140 - 3150 fps

130 grain Partition .991" to 1.526" (100 yards)
59.0 grains RL 22 Remington brass CCI 200 primer = 3113 - 3126 fps 1.526"
59.5 grains RL 22 Winchester brass CCI 200 primer = 3066 - 3092 fps .991"
60.0 grains RL 22 Remington brass CCI 200 primer = 3110 - 3140 fps 1.264"

I did not experience any signs of high pressure, even at 60 grains of RL 22, although I did not like the accuracy with the partitions. Hope this helps.

Mark, looking at your velocity figures for the Partition load, given that the velocity from the 50 and 60 grain loads are for the most part identical, I would think you are pret nar that max. When a grain of powder in a .270 doesn't show an appreciable gain in velocity, your topping out. Unless of course there is a typo.

Thanks for the info,Mark!
I will keep those loads in mind, although I am using WW brass and Fed 210M primers. Sounds like you are getting good velocities. Nosler actually lists RL22 at 58.0grains(their max) as the most accurate load tested with RL22, so we will see how it goes!
Just curious, what sort of OAL were you using for those loads?
Tim

Reloader 22 the best powder I have used in the 270 Win and 270 WSM

270 Win
62.0 of RL22
130 Part or BT or Barnes TSX
Fed 210 Match Primer
Fed or WW brass

Super good Load!

Another good load would be

140 Nosler AB and 60.0 of RL22
Rifle: Winchester M70 Max COL: 3.340"
Barrel: 24" Reloading Dies: RCBS
Max case length: 2.540" Group distance: 100 yards

Alaska,
Thank you very much for the info!
I am looking forward to trying the 140 grain AB in my 270. I ordered a McMillan stock for my rifle, should be sweet, and I want to have plenty of loads to try when I get her restocked!

Hello 340boy,

.270 Winchester

My trim length is: 2.54"

My OAL is: 3.370" MAX in my Sako 75 Hunter

Good Luck!

Bruce Mc,

Thanks for the feedback. I agree; I think I am near max with these loads.

TYPO MISTAKE:

.270 Winchester OAL in my Sako 75 Hunter is: 3.350" (not 3.750")

Sorry,
Mark
