I just bought a 270 wsm in the Winchester super shadow and I am working up some loads with the AccuBond 140 gr bullets, and I was wandering what kind of COL should be. I know the maxium is 2.860 and I seated my bullets to that diamention (2.860) and as far as I can tell the bolt cycles easy and there are no signs of the bullet touching the riflings.

I was just wandering what kind of COL you other shooters are shooting.

Thank You :)

I too have a 270 WSM Super Shadow. I load mine with 140AB, 61.5gn of RL-19, GM215M primers and a COL of 2.875". I hope this helps.

In my Winchester Model 70 chambered in 270 WSM I seat the 140 Accubonds to an OAL of 2.83 inches. So we are all pretty much on the same track here.

I have two Tikka T3 LS 270WSM's (wife's & mine). Both shoot 140gr Accubonds. I just got back from the range on monday nite tweaking the load for one of the rifles.

Both shoot using Retumbo. One load @ 71.0gr COMPRESSED, the other rifle's load that was just fine-tuned is 68.7gr. Both shoot well under 1/2" groups @ 100metres. The new load has a 3 shot grouping of 0.217"

Cant remeber the COAL, but I will check tonite to repost it. I know that what the rifle will giv me, wont fit in my clip. My reloads are just fitting inside the clip.

It sounds like i'm in the right ball park, now to find the right load.

Thanks for you replys

As promised, for my reloads, COL of 2.8550
My clip max length is 2.904 but my COAL for my Tikka T3 rifles is 3.054 but it wont fit the clip. Plus with my reloads shooting 0.217" at 100 metres, I'm not going to complain.

I will be more than happy to run a Quickload simulation for you if you give me barrel length and a coal.
Either way my best loads on various 270 wsm's and 140 AB have been 63-66 gr of rl22. Reduce 10% work up. here is one:

Cartridge : .270 Win Short Mag [WSM]
Bullet : .277, 140, NOS AccuBond 54765
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 2.860 inch or 72.64 mm
