This is update from my last post. I posted two loads that shot the best also chronograph those loads. I did try one other load and chronograph those as well but they didn't shoot as good as other two loads and powder was IMR-7828ssc.

Last weekend I started testing loads at 200/300 yds and I did little adjusting on seating depth and I settled on 56.5gr/IMR-7828ssc @ 2959 fps and yesterday was 5th trip to range and at 200yds group was .973 and 300yd 1.738.

Wow! Now that's a good one buddy. I love seeing folks working with the 270. Seems the old boy gets overlooked too much. Not much out there that'll beat your combo without a bunch more recoil and muzzle blast.

All our deer tags are draw and I drew early buck tag and there is only 20 tags issued for that hunt and I plan on using 270. Most times I'll draw buck tag and it be same season as my bull tag so I'll use different rifles.

One of my pet projects is 270 Wby on Rem action with 26" fluted Rock Creek 5r barrel and I had it build without the Wby freebore. So far I've shot 150gr BT,150gr Partiton,140gr/150gr Berger VLD and been also shooting 150gr ABLR and I'll take that as back-up rifle on my deer hunt.

That sounds like a good one. I have liked the 270 WBY for a long time. Now, after building the 7mm Mashburn, I think I could like a 270 WBY or 270 Mashburn. I'd like to do one on a 70 action. Thinking 150's around 3250 or so would make a cool rifle.

I do think a plain old 270 Winchester shooting a sleek bullet like the 150 ABLR or BT is a plain old good combo. Especially if the rifle is a little handier than a larger magnum.

It does sound like 7828ssc is doing a fine job. 2959 is plenty of velocity for the .270.
