Has anyone out there tried these in your .270? I really need to be content, but the rifle looney in me says give them a whirl? They really seem to be a 130 TTSX with a slightly better b.c.

For those who shoot barnes - are there any tricks? I have read a general consensus that they like to be pushed hard and have some jump?

Probably not what you want to hear but I played with them a little bit and thought I had a good load. Re test with a 10 shot group didn't turn out so good so I kind of abandoned them. Maybe someday I'll give another try with these new powders.
In the meantime with most 270 my first choice is to try the 140 AccuBond. If I can't find a load with that I just move over to the 150 Hornady spire point that thing just plain seems to shoot in every gun I try out. Ttsx Should be jumped at least .050 inch. Fwiw... There's a Guy on another chat room that says no matter what TTSX you are shooting and what caliber you shooting You should seat it so half of the first groove is showing out of the case mouth. The guy said that works for him all the time but I realize that 129 LRX is pretty long and that would take up some case room.... but that's pretty much where the factory ammo is set so I guess I'd give it a go.

This is from Barnes sight on seating depth.

Do I seat TSX bullets .030 inch to .070 inch from the lands, starting at .050 inch off the lands, as recommended with other X-style bullets?

Yes. All-copper TSX Bullets typically give better accuracy when seated off the lands and grooves (the rifling in the barrel).

I took couple pretty nice bucks here (Co) with 270 and 140gr TSX,H-4350 powder and my seating depth was .055" off the lands. Last year I switched over to the 150gr ABLR using IMR-7828ssc and got real nice high country 4x5 buck.

My wife's 280AI she hunted with 150gr TSX on bull elk and buck tag.

I tried that new 7mm 145gr LRX bullet in 284 and wife's 280AI and I also tried 150gr ABLR in both rifles.

I start mine at .050" off the lands. Well good luck

Only worked up loads for one in a 338 RUM. The bullet shot well, but not spectacularly. The customer was satisfied, so I didn't have to pursue it beyond the moment.

I've heard 0.050" off the lands is about where you want to be… or at least start with.

I haven't tried them yet, but I have 2 boxes of 7mm 168 grn LRX for my 280 Ackley. Those bullets are definitely huge, so it's going to be a bit of a science project to get them to shoot.

BTW, Barns's web site does have load data for the 270 win and 129 LRX. Doesn't seem to be any barrel twist requirements, so a 1:10 should work if that's what you have.

The reports I've been hearing is the LRX is a very accurate bullet, but it may be fussy for finding that sweet spot. Probably a similar story for all of the mono's.

Good luck!
