280 Rem 160 gr bullet update

Went to the range yesterday after work and tried one of the loads I made up with a 160 gr Gameking with 51 gr H4831SC, Fed 210 LR primer with an O.A.L of 3.290. It printed a 5 shot 1 1/2 group at 100 yards, that was better than I expected.

I'm going to load another 5 rounds and up the charge to 52.5 gr and change the O.A.L to 3.285 and see what happens from there.

What kind of velocity are you seeing? Might have to go to IMR-7828SSC to get max velocity. If my memory serves me right they were claiming 3k in the number 3 Nosler manual.

The Sierra manual is showing a muzzle vel of 2500 FPS with this load, my barrel is 6 inches longer than the test barrel sierra used in testing, according to the ballistics techs from Sierra and nosler I should be getting an extra 25 FPS of muzzle vel for every extra inch of barrel. That's all I have too go by for now.
