280 Remington IMR-4350 140 gr Accubond

Had a unexpected day off yesterday and did a little load development with IMR 4350 with a 140 gr AccuBond.

A most satisfying result, I'd say. I've found the 139/140 grain pills to perform admirably in my own 280s over the years.

I never really worked with 4350 in this rifle, but the AccuBond didn’t group as well with IMR-4831 as they do with the 4350. IMR-4831 & 140 gr BT has been my go to load for this rifle.

The combination of IMR4831 and the 140 grain BT are a proven combination in several 280s that I've owned. I did have great success with the 140 grain PT, but never found I needed it for mule deer or whitetail.

Looks like a great load. What charge weight, brass, primer and coal? Velocity in your barrel?

My current 280 really likes the Federal Premium factory ammo with the 140gr AccuBond, and as it is discontinued and I am almost out, I will be loading for it very soon.

It did not like DrMike's load with the LRAB that shoots so well in his rifle. (Both are Rem 700 CDL SF Ltd's) Just proves no two barrels from the same manufacturer will shoot the same! LOL
Had great luck with IMR4350 and 162 gr Interlocks in my first 280 (Browning A-Bolt).

I used IMR4350 and 54.0 grs. in my 280 with 140 gr. Partitions. It was a great load in a Remington MTN rifle with the 22" barrel. Speed was 2940 fps.

I’m using 51 gr of 4350, Norma Brass, Fed 210 primer with and the O A L is 3.290. Haven’t checked the velocity and still need to measure to see how far off the lands.

I've used IMR 4350 in my 280 for years. They go together we'll, though I have found some bullets that like other powders better. In mine, RL19 works best with the 140 AB. Find out exactly how far off the lands you are and save that load, it's a keeper for sure.

Nice job! I too have a special attachment to the 280 Rem. One of my favorites, especially with the 140 AB. I found that superformance powder performs great in the 280 with a 140 AB.

My first handloading experience began with a .280 Mod 77, a LEE Classic Loader, RCBS scale. I used the Hornady 139sp and 55gr IMR 4831. Never clocked it but I got MOA (maybe a tad under) on first tryout, settled on that one. I never shot anything else. I then ended up using IMR 4350 in a 7mm Rem Mag. It was Jim-Dandy too! I always keep some of each on hand. I always worked up loads with them during the hot summertime/early fall and you know, I cannot ever think of a time I ever had a temp problem! I checked some loads ( in other cartridges) with both these powders and I lost maybe 100fps or so in really cold temps, but it didn't affect my zero! I really like how your rifle with it and the 140AB wad them in! Have a ball dude!

Nice. That load will cover a lot of bases. I love the 280 and believe it is one of the most over looked cartridges ever. I have my dads and it’s why I built a 280 Improved. I often wonder how things would have shook out if the ‘06 would have fired a 7mm slug to start with.

I'd say that will work quite nicely.
Burned a bunch of IMR4350 in my 280 over the years until I tried H4831SC.
Filled a passel of whitetail tags along the way.

Nice shooting and I think the .280 Rem is a cartridge I would like to have in my gun rack someday.
