30-06 and IMR 4451

Loaded up some 180 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips with the new IMR 4451.

Not there yet but I think I might have a load coming together. Best I got was about 7/8 MOA at 200 Yards. I noticed, with the help of a forum member here, that as my pressure increased they got closer.

My best load was 55.5 grains at 3.320. I'm going to try 56.5 grains at 3.320 and 3.310 later this week.

No pressure signs noticed and I'll run them over the chronograph to see if I'm getting velocity spikes. Thank you Jake for all your help today.

The old internet story is 2 close one out turn your seating die down....is it 1/4 turn or 1/2...can't remember...lol.
Seriously though...3 shots at 200 isn't proving much...4 is a minimum at 200...5 is much better....and all chrono'd which might start to explain low ones.

True but it let's me know if I'm in the area.

I've had pretty good success using the three, come back later to confirm, and shoot more later method.

I'm seeing that the groups are getting tighter as pressure increases so I'm on the right track I think. I'll be real interested in what the chronograph tells me.

Given up on the 180 grain Ballistic Tip and 4451 for now.
Pulled the .338 Win Mag out of the safe and confirmed my zero. Got a deer hunt next week.
