First off, yes I did a search!!!

I just bought a 30-06. My plan is to develope a load with 165ABs. The powders I have on hand are: RL-19, RL-22, Retumbo, Varget, H4831SC, IMR4064.

I also have 150AB and 180AB
The rifle is a Vanguard Sporter w/24" barrel

Any recipes would be great.

I`ve had real good luck with H4350 in my `06`s. I`d try R19 from the powder list you gave to start, then try the 4831 as a 2nd choice. The exact charge will differ depending on the rifle. The load that works best in my rifle may or may not do well in yours. Work up to a max for your rifle then play with seating to see if tuneing helps. This usually will show some improvement. Once you find the best OAL for that bullet, stay with it and work up other loads useing that OAL if you`re not happy with the result of the load you have.
The 30-06 isn`t real picky to load for. You will likely find a couple of powders that work with the bullets on hand from what you have listed.
If you want an exact load try the accuracy loads in the Nosler or Sierra manual. Lyman also use to list one and Hornady lists the powders that gave the best result in their testing. Notice though, all will often be showing different powders then the others with same wgt bullets, or one be at the top end and the next book at the starting level.

H4350, 56. grains. Been using this in a Vanguard and a sako in 30-06 for many more years than I'd like to count. Just tried 56.5 grains for a little more push, works good to.

FYI, I do have the Nosler #5 and 6 manuals along with Hodgdon's 2006 & 2007 (2008 coming) annual manuals. We all know they can't show every powder that can be used in a certain caliber/bullet configuration.

Thanks for you inputs.

58.5-58.8grs. IMR-4350 with a 165gr bullet. Have used WLR and Fed210M, Norma, Lapua and Win brass. Normally shoots 1/2MOA or better.Rick.

180 gr Accubonds or Partitions with 60 gr RL 22 or 59gr RL 19 or 56-57 grains of H4350.

If you get 2700-2800 fps and under MOA I would use (and have used it) for everything!

Easy as pie!

165gr AB, RL-19, fed 215 groups under .75 in my rifle @ 100yds.
start low and work up. Mine likes the compressed loads.

Rich, try 47-48 grains of IMR4064 with your 165 grain AccuBond. I've used 4064 and 165 Sierra bullet and gotten excellent groups and a number of whitetails. The nice thing about this powder is you can achieve comparable velocities with less powder and you don't need a magnum primer in cold weather. It meters good and burns clean.

I'm going to start with Varget.

POP, can you run a 30-06 load for me with the following info?

165AB
GM210M
Varget
Nosler brass
24" Barrel

Right now I've got 48.5 to 51gn (in .5 gn increments) loads done, just wondering before I go fire them.

If the varget doesn't make you happy, try imr 4350 with the 165 or 4064 with a 150.

I'm trying to use powders I already have. I also have 150ABs and 180AB to try with those powders I currently have. Last resort will be to buy some 4350 (H or IMR) and try that.

Again, the powders I have are Varget, RL-19, RL-22, H4831SC, 4064, Retumbo (to slow), H322 (to fast).

Thanks POP. I will have to watch my 50, 50.5 ,and 51 gn loads very carefully for pressure signs.

Remember the simulation is just a prediction. Your milage may vary.

Well, got the Vanguard Sporter 30-06 Friday, tested some Varget loads today. Here's the results of 50.5gn of Varget pushing a 165AB. Oh and yes I missed the penny.

Every rifle is individual, but this load has proven safe and VERY accurate in two 30-06 rifles.

165 grain Nosler solid base boattail or Partition. Should be fine with the AccuBond too.

Remington cases, CCI 200 primers, Cartridge overall length- 3.375
IMR 4350- 57.4 grains

Chronographed out of a Ruger #1-B with a 26" barrel. 2940 FPS

Nice group.
I never had any luck with varget in my 06.
I did have some decent results with it in a 243.
Congratulations your load looks like a keeper

57 grns of IMR 4350 worked well with CCI 200's and HRNDY 165 grn BTSP bullets as well, killed paper like a darn, not so on game, serious jacket seperation issues. That was one of the first loads I tried when I started loading about 8 or 9 years ago.

Well, unfortunately the Varget load has come under suspicion due to the following:
1) Loads developed with virgin Nosler brass (no sizing before hand) rendered easy bullet seating forces.
2) Resized brass used to load up the Varget loads require more pressure to seat the bullets.
3) Chrono testing loads for scope setting yielded huge differences (up to 100 fps) in velocity, which I attribute to differences in neck tension from virgin Nosler to once fired/resized brass.

Pulled all of the loads I made, will resize all the brass and start over. I'm going to just buy some IMR 4350 to work up a load.
