Sorry guys. Been busy as all get out. Finally loaded some of the 220 gr Noslers into my only five empty .30-06 cases. Loaded them over 52.5 gr of Ramshot Hunter. I've been using Hunter more and more in the .30-06 in recent years and am starting to like it a lot. Not sure it's better than "my" H4350, but it's good. Of that, there's no doubt.

Was at the range a couple of days ago, but was working and didn't have time for a bullet test. I'll let you know how they do on the infamous water jugs when I get a chance to send them downrange. Meanwhile they do look pretty cool:

Next to a 165 gr Nosler Partition, my standard bullet for the .30-06 rifle:

These will be sent downrange via my ancient M1917 rifle, an old WWI warhorse that has been updated several times by both me and my father over the past 60 years that our family has owned the rifle. It holds six in the magazine, plus one in the chamber. Typically I run a 6x Leupold on that rifle, but for timber hunting I prefer the very compact 2.5x Ultralight Leupold.

I'll let you know how it goes when I get a chance to send these bad boys downrange...

This should be fascinating, Guy. The 220 grain are certainly massive against the 165 grain PT.

Guy,

That bullet looks all business and I would think it will penetrate into tomorrow.
Looking forward to your water jug test.

Those 220s look cool in the 06! Got me thinking about loading some in the 300 RUM.

Brian,

Water jug them. It would be interesting to compart your test with Guy's results.

Guy you better be drinking lots of milk or water before your tests as I think it's going to sail through several of them before it even thinks about giving up the ghost!

Can't wait for your tests Guy, the 220 gr Partition was one one my all time favorite bullets to use in the 308 Norma I had. All you guys with 30 cal rifles should definitely consider this bullet, it's that good on game. In a 300 mag of some kind 300 yards+ is not a problem and that would cover the vast majority of hunting situations. I had better be careful reading this thread otherwise I'll have to buy a 30-06 just to use this bullet :)

Gerry, had you been using a 30-06 with this bullet, there'd be no concern that your goat might get up out of the freezer and walk away.

Guy, that is an excellent picture. Makes me wanna try a few of them in my 300WSM just for grins as well. I wanna say they have the ability to run around 2700 out of the WSM and that would be plenty of hammer for about anything. Out to 350-400, I don't see much getting away either. It would be like a drill on big animals!

I've shot 200 grain bullets in my 300 WSM, but haven't tried the 220 grain bullets. I agree, Scotty, that I'm intrigued to take a look. The 200 grain Partitions and 200 grain Sierra GKs each give me good accuracy and 2800 fps. These 220 grain PTs would possibly be a real hammer on game.

Yep, that'll be a good whitetail bullet for sure. Don't shoot deer to big, though; you know they have tough skin.

Seriously, are these for...rhino?

Looks awesome. Those would be terrific elk or moose bullets! And deer too, I suppose.

That 220 PT looks like it doesn't mess around!

I'm not an 06 kind of guy, but I'm very interested in how this test turns out.

I will have to give them a try when I get a chance. They might be fun to shoot.

Those and the 160 PT's would be sweet.
