I finally caught one! I put 2-in the lungs and this one stopped on the off side shoulder. 30-06 at around 2850.

I always like to see those perfect NP mushrooms!

The delivery system and the kill box.

He was a dink or meat bull, but can never complain about 190-lbs of delicious meat.

Congratulations on your elk!
Nice catch on the bullet.

Good to see that the beloved .30-06 hasn't lost any of its punch. That's a great report and a good recovery of the bullet. I'm with .280 Remington, however; I'd love to see a picture of your elk.

Ok, ok first and formost I was meat hunting and took the first legal bull so he is a big bodied dink. I could have snuck up on his buddies but I wanted meat!

Load is 49 grains of Varget, F210, Fed brass for a cool 2850. Always good to see friends and 190 lbs of meat is always the trophy! I get to go back with my son in November for a youth cow. We get to test the 125 NAB at 3050.

I'll take meat any day. I tend to shoot cows and does anymore if they are available, just because we like the meat.

Yeah, I am pretty fussy myself when it comes to elk. I like the ones that are the same brown color as yours!

Great pictures! 190lbs of meat is good to go in my book! Way to hunt!

Me too but not an option, bull only. I made a vow next year since junior can meat hunt now to only take a bull over 300" but well see if I can restrain myself

Ps is that a kimber rifle? If so, I'm jealous of the lack of weight in the high country. My workout is coming next Saturday, elk or not.

Hey Bud that is meat in the freezer which is a trophy .
Thanks for the photos with the report!!

Blessings,
Dan

YUM Yum, I can already smell backstrap fryin' on the grill  8)

Fine shootin' with the ol' thirty cal.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
