338 Rum 225 accubond recovered bullets.

Here's a CA blacktail that I shot in '09 using my 338rum and 200ET. Velocity of this is about 3150. This deer gutted weighed around 90lbs if I remember right. Shot was about 100yds. Bang flop.

Nice BT deer BTW, especially for CA. I guess that I am just an older version of Scotty in regard to bullet penetration. With any .338 caliber and Partition bullets, I expect penetration. There is a lot of shank behind that ogive and I personally think that the inertia of that bullet is sufficient to make two holes wthin a reasonable angle.

Here are some 225 gr AB's I recovered from water jugs.

Going back to another post you have to dispell some energy to get maximum penetration. If your going to fast your going to rip a bullet apart and reduce penetration. Jim's photos prove it look at the weight retention. This is a discussion on the 338 vs 35 Whelen all over again. Now you have the option to go up to a 250 or a 300 AB and get out of that trap.

I think they were all recovered in the 6-7th jugs.
