338 Win Mag 225 PT RL17

Looks good on both parts, rifle and load. I have always had great luck with Reloder line of powders.

I get 1", 2,939 fps w/ 75 grs. IMR4350. yields ton of energy at 500 yds.think about giving it a try SJ.

Thanks buddy. I think I could probably make them a little tighter if I shot this load off the bench, but this point of the year, I am done with bench work. I am getting right around 2900 and they seem to run pretty well in my rifle. I was only shooting for 2850/2900 so I am pretty happy..

The reloader powders seem to really give great accuracy and a velocity over a wide range of sitiations !!!!! very impressive 200 yd groups!

Thanks buddy. It's a good rifle, I just drive it decently once in awhile.

I wanted to mess with seating depths a little with the 338, like I did with the 35 Newton. Just to see if I could eek a little more accuracy from the load. Did all of this at 100 yards with the old Alaskan.

The load I have been shooting up to this point has been at 3.30"

So, I shortened them up a little and shot this one

3.290"

Not completely sure if the flier was me or the load, plan on rechecking that one. Never know what might turn up..

Then I went a little longer than my standard load.

3.310

Then I went up to 3.320 and shot this one.

While not the bug holers we see all the time, I was pretty happy with it. Shooting off the ground has been humbling but oh man have I gotten alot more comfortable with the rifles.

Any of those groups will work with big game. That final group is very satisfying. You should be about ready to rock and roll.

I could like the 3.320 seating depth a whole bunch. Nice shooting my friend that will do in spades.

Going out today with that load, going to shoot it at 200 and refine the zero. Hoping to shoot long here shortly and see what it does a little further out...
