375 H&H & 260gr Accubond

Got a friend looking for a load, wondering if any favorites were here to be shared.?

Phil I’m in tucson and don’t have my log book with me. I use Reloader 15 and I think it’s 71 grains in my rifle. Easy 1moa at 100. The load is one Guy posted a number of years ago and it seems quite popular. I’m low on 15 so I played with some H4350 just before I came down. Good velocity, not quite as accurate. I’m sure Guy or others using that above mentioned load will chime in shortly.
Love the 375 and shoot it at least once a month, perhaps a little more when I’m home.

Great bullet for the 375 when a sturdy 300 grainer isn't necessary. I've only shot a few black bears with it, from about 15 feet out to just over 300 yards. The bullet did superbly in all instances. Recovered the bullet fired from such short range.


Nosler shows 69 grains of RL-15 as their accuracy load, and John Barsness published it before Nosler I believe. I copied that load and it worked great, producing about 2650 fps with excellent accuracy. HOWEVER... RL-15 has become really tough to get!

I turned to H4350 as I had quite a bit on hand and it works fine.

Tested at 20 yards into water jugs with a muzzle velocity of 2650 fps. Bullet recovered from the 7th jug - which puts it up there in a pretty exclusive club. Retained weight was 179 grains and it expanded to .83" diameter. A good sized black bear at just over 300 yards completely failed to stop...

375 260 gr & 300 gr AB Tested

I have been messing around with the Nosler M21 in 375 H&H Mag and closing in on a couple of loads. I thought I would send a couple rounds into the jugs. First up was the 260 gr AB @ 2750; fps Penetrated 3 gallon jugs and found in the second DEF jug. Recovered weight 197.7 grs Diameter .750"...

With you usual suspect powders out of the way here are some with "not so conventional" 375 H&H powders.
250-270 gr bullets.
All produce between 2700-2800 in my Sako. Drop 10% work up.

78 gr. CFE 223
72 gr Varget
80 gr Big Game
74 gr Leverevolution

I have found StaBall 6.5 to be another excellent powder in the 375 H&H Mag with the 260 gr E-Tip.
I've shot this load out to 600 yards.
In the near future I will try SB 6.5 with the 260 AB, 300 AB and 300 PT.
The 375 H&H Mag is a fantastic cartridge and a ton of fun to shoot.

The lightest I have ever used Ernie were the 250 TTSX with the aforementioned loads.

Shot a couple crop damage deer, both around 160 yds.

235 gr TSX with expected flawless performance. Mine is a .375 wby but shouldn’t make much difference for the purpose of this thread-except I won’t post my “recipe.” The powder used is rl-15
I forgot I had taken this combo more than once-one shot effective on eland down to duiker-the velocity I stayed with is 2890 fps

I agree with the 250gr TTSX option. Shoots lights out in my 375 Wby with either RL-17 or H4350. Those 2 powder may be a tad too slow for the H&H.

Last time I owned a 375 my go to was IMR4350 with the 270gr and W760 for 300gr. That was in a Whitworth Mark X and would have been mid to late 90’s. Gee, I think it’s time to get another Hoot & Holler lol

I use RL16 in my 375 Improved with the 250 TTSXs for about 3000 last I checked.

IMR4350 made nice fire form loads with 300 grain Sierras at 2450 or so as well. Doesn’t seem like it’s hard to make good 375 ammo. They’re a bunch of fun though.
