.375 H&H loads

Any body have any good loads for a .375 H&H. I have a new Browning Gold Medallion. So far I have ran 15 shots down the tube and have gotten 2 inch pattens at 100 yards. the only bullet I have used so far is a 300 AccuBond using both IMR4350 and H4350. I have a wide variety of powders on hand to use and along with a variety of bullets ranging from 270 to 300 grains. Off to the range tomorrow to give it a try again along with the life vest to cushin the kick!

The Browning Medallion, at least the ones that I have owned, are somewhat lighter than you raverage Safari grade type .375 rifle. Even my .300 WSM has managed to kick the cr*p out of me much worse than my Model 70 .375 H&H Model 70 ever did. You may want to tame that rifle down a bit with eithjer a BOSS device or at least a Simms kick reducer recoil pad.

I used mine exlusively for elk hunting in the jungles of Washington state with 270 Partition bullets loaded to full power for pot shots at Roosevelt elk. They are a great cartridge and will kill any game from elk on up to the great bears with no great effort. I hope that you get good use of your Medium bore rifle over the next several years.

I always loaded up my Model 70 to full caseloads of IMR 4350 powder with a 270 gr Nosler Partitions for game loads.

You are on the right track with the two versions of 4350. In several 375's that I have loaded for one or the other of those powders have given me the best groups with 300 grain bullets.

The load that I use currently in my 375 H&H is a max load of H 4895 behind a 270 grain Barnes TSX. I carefully worked up to that load that is listed in the latest Barnes manual and it shoots quite well for me. (Just have not shot anything but paper with it so far)

For whatever reason, I never could get the Accubonds to shoot well in a 375 H&H. Having said that, a couple of rifles I worked with would shoot absolute cloverleaf groups with the 300 grain Swift A-Frame.

Mine, a Ruger Number One, is shooting real well with the 260 gr Nosler AccuBond over 69 grains of Reloader 15. This is a moderate load, sending the 260 out at a mere 2620 fps, but it's quite accurate. This 100 yard group, fired while I was sighting-in a new 1.5-5x scope recently, measures .84" center to center:

It's the same load I used to take a decent Washington black bear at 306 yards last year. The bullet performed very well, dropping the bear instantly. Complete penetration, and he managed to drag himself about 10', leaving a huge swath of blood.

With various 300 gr bullets, I've seen good results on target using 75 grains of H4350. That develops about 2560 fps. Am seeing good accuracy with that, but not as good as the 260/RE-15 combo.

The .375 in a light rifle, can be a real handful to shoot. Don't beat yourself up with it. I limit my range sessions with it, and spend little or no time shooting mine from the bench.

Great shooting Guy. I just loaded up some test loads with the 260gr PT's and RL15 for my buddies M700 375 H&H. Seems like a great powder for the 375 and the 260gr PT or AB should work excellent on anything here in NA. The only problem with loading for one is that it makes you wanna own one! Scotty

Not long before I loaded my first .375 cartridges, I'd been loading itty-bitty .204 Ruger varmint loads... The difference was staggering! I thoroughly enjoyed being able to hold big cases and big bullets. Nice. Made my fingers happy to not be dealing with those itty-bitty bullets! :grin:

Yeah buddy, those little cases and bullets are challenging for my big nubs to get ahold of! The 375 on the other hand was very nice to load for and man, it just slips in and out of the die with such ease! Scotty

Back to the grind today. this time I tried 270g partitions and IMR4350 this time I used once fired brass and deburred the primer pocket, Next I tried the 300g AccuBond and 76g IMR4350 again I used once fired brass and deburred the primer pocket. It was 83 degrees out and very little wind at all. I even got to play with the triple deuce!

Great shooting, particularly with the .375 ouch & ouch! That is the same load that I used with 270 Partitions in my .375 H&H, Winchester Model 70. Still a good load I see.

I too see a 375H&H in my future. It is low on the priority list due to need but none the less, it's on the list.

The Triple Deuce is such a sweet round. My friend is annoyed with me because I suck up to his father too much. He knows that my one and only goal is too pry a Sako L461 from his inheritance.

I shot the left handed Browning M in the 375 Mr. Holand & Holand :wink: for a number of years. I shot everything from Antelope to Elk with it.
I only used one grain of bullet and that was the 235gr. Speers. I think I know what I used for powder but I will look it up. I know that the speed was around 3,000fps.
It was real accurate and all I really needed for hunting here in Saskatchewan.
I love the caliber but got tired of the noise shoot the boss system.
I would never shy away from that Caliber as it is world renouned.
