I finally got some decent weather to go site in my 375RUM using 300PT and 93gn of H4832SC. It's good to go at 50M, will sight in at 100M another day. All I can say is OMG! This thing's got recoil, but not bad enough I'd put a brake on it. I'm waiting for my G-Smith to come to town so I can have him do a trigger job on this rifle and my 7mmRUM.

Good deal!

I bet it does have some recoil but man that is one powerful cartridge for some serious work. Glad you like it and that shooting went well.

As mentioned, the load was (Nosler's listed min for 4831) made just to sight in the scope and get some bullets through the barrel before I start developing loads for. Still, propelling a 300gn projectile out of a barrel at around 2700 fps is impressive, at least to me.

Rich,

Congratulations on your maiden voyage with the 375 RUM.

Thanks POP/JD, the two shots I took off-hand just to see how much this thing would thump was .......... well, I got a big kick out of it.

Sorry about the pun, but I had too.

It shoots real nice with 260 gr. accubonds at 3080 fps and 5500 fpe. You may not need the 300 grs and the additional pounding. I haven't. Watching elk go "bang flop" is pretty impressive.
Good Hunting

I'm using these cause they were cheap, Nolser 2nds at 25.00 a bag. I already have 260 and 300ABs loaded up for future testing using IMR-4350.

Rich, Greg is right on..bang-flop is very impresssive. I'm loading 94 grs of H4350 behind the 300 PT. I don't mind the shoulder thump, but the others at the range I visit sure do complain about the muzzle blast. Seem to clear benches on either side of me every time I take my big RUM out...

I found RL25 did the trick with the lowest pressure on the 260 gr. IMR4350 is my favorite all around powder but it's a little fast for me on the big Ultra mags. I find that the fuller I can get the case when I reach the velocity I want the less problems I have with pressure. It may cost a little more powder but I don't have to worry about a quarter of a grain more being enough to seize the action as with faster powders with a sharper spike. Just my take on why I've said Oh ____! a few times.

When I moved to Idaho I bought myself a gift of 4 Remington Ultra mags. All are the custom shop APR's and all shoot sub moa. Found out real fast like that the 7 was plenty for anything around here. All my loads for these rifles are with Fed 215's and IMR 7828 ssc. For me its the cats meow in these rifles

Give us some examples. Bullet load velocity accuracy.

Am I correct to assume you bought all 4 RUM calibers in the APR rifles? That is way cool. We need some pics of your RUM family. Mine is here some where in a previous thread.

Thats awesome guys! You two can start the RUM Club.

Idaho_Elk_Huntr, post some pictures of your RUM's.

I'm hoping my daughters boyfriend decides to sell his 700 LSS 7mm RUM.
