Hi everyone. I'm new here to the forum, so please bear with me. I am wanting to load the Nosler 210 JHP bullet for my ruger bisley .41 magnum, using Hodgdon Lil' Gun powder. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate any data for this bullet with this powder. Hodgdon lists the 210 grain xtp bullet, but not the Nosler. I have both bullets on hand, and comparing them side by side, the channelure is in the same place on the bullet. The distance between the channelure and the base of the bullet is for all intents and purposes the same, best I can tell. Can I use the Hodgdon data for the xtp bullet, or do I need to reduce the charge 10% from their listed minimum, when using the Nosler 210 JHP? I am going to use new winchester brass cases and winchester large pistol primers. Also, I am going to load .30-06 with 165 grain Nosler ballistic tip bullets. Considering H4350 powder, using Federal brass and primers(Federal 210 large rifle). I also have considered using H380 powder. As you probably can tell, I am really just getting started loading my own, only been doing it for about 6 months. I have several current edition manuals, just in case you were wondering about that. Any and all suggestions and information are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

waterboy 411,

Welcome to the world of reloading!

41 Mag:
You can use existing 210 gr load data with the Nosler bullet. Start at the suggested starting load and work up towards max, watching for the usual pressure signs. Should have no problems.

30-06:
With 165 gr bullets, you might want to consider old faithful IMR4350 and RL22 powders. Either should give the accuracy/velocity results you are looking for.

JD hit it on the head.

As far as H4350 in your 30-06, we only list IMR in our book. Look at the hodgdon page and pull the H4350 data off and use the starting load and work your way up.
