I've knocked up a few loads for my Marlin 1895 in 45/70 Gov, recently. 300gn Speer Jacketed HP's and 60gns of H335 was the winning formula. Believe me, I got some attention during my last trip to the range.

That's impressive. The 45-70 is a fire breathing dragon.

Wow. I never experienced that when loading my 450 Marlin. But, I used different powders - H4198 and RL-7 and 350 gr. bullets.

I spotted a bull moose on a ridge so early in the morning that I had to check my watch to ensure that it was legal shooting time. Light was low but I could clearly see the moose in my 1.5-5 scope. When the hammer dropped, I was shocked to see what an enormous bright flash the muzzle produced. I was using RE7 at the time and never noticed any flash when shooting at the range during mid-day.

Suggest Reloader 7 or IMR 4198
Easy 2000 fps loads with 350gr Hornady or 350gr Speer FN in Marlin 45/70
