7mm-08 Deer-Elk

Honestly I would give it up on retesting again with that powder/bullet combination...... if it's not working don't waste any more time.

I have numerous 7mm-08 loads that all work extremely well and I would try out:

140 NBT 41.5 RL15 CCI-BR2 2808 FPS @ 20'
140 S Pro hunter 42.0 RL15 CCI-BR2 SAME +-
160 NAB 45.0 H-414 F210M 2725 FPS @ 20'
168 SMK 45.5 H-414 CCI-BR2 2672 FPS @ 20'

Of these the Nosler 160 AB would take down anything alive out to 400 yards and has the best BC. I don't run any of my guns hot, I stick with the second to last node that shoots extremely well. These are all 1/2" MOA on any given day or week in my WBY Vanguard wearing a 22" Hart Barrel.

I think H4895 is a tad so fast to work well enough and would have tried a slow, medium and a fast powder during your tests.... but then again I always seem to try the slower powders first and then move down in burn rate.

Hope that helps?

Thanks longranger. I did in fact try h4350 imr4350 varget and 4064. This is the only one I've found to not like 4350 or Varget with a 140.

Sorry for my frustration but when I replied I was at bass pro's reloading section. Not a primer or a powder on the shelf! They did have 150 partitions but I am going to hold out for one more range test to validate the accuracy of the 140 ttsx... everything the same or I will move on. Tougher to give up on components now vs pre re-election.

To shoot deer, hogs, black bear and elk with the 7mm08 (mine 24" barrel) and have a bullet that has a great BC and is capable to opening up close and way down range with a good SD is the 160gr Speer SPBT (moving on average 2802fps). Used it this year and more than happy with its results to hit hard, open up and exit while being very accurate at longer ranges.
