found a new savage 10 in 7mm rem this morning for $299. I couldn't say no. I'll be digging through yalls load info.

whats a good starting point for a 24" tube? whats the happy spot in bullet weight for distance vs velocity? 160?

I can't wait to get started on this one. I very excite!

You have a 110 long action.

Easy work up to 65 66 rl 22 and 160 AccuBond or PT. You're done!

Did you just tap your Staples "EASY button" for that one. Lol .
Hard to go wrong with that load. Unless your really wanting to use a different bullet or weight. Your covered for all the N/A ungulates with that combo .

Pretty much.

dlove - yes - for a general purpose load, it's hard to think of a better combo than a quality 160 gr bullet at around 3,000 fps - which you can reach quite nicely with RL-22.

The heavier 175 penetrates great, and I've used it, but how many times do you need the bullet to go through elk. Once is enough, and the 160 will do that!

A quality 140 also does real well, and can hit 3200 pretty easily. Some factory ammo does that. I never found it lacking.

Completely agree w/Fotis though, a 160 AccuBond or Partition over RL-22 at about 3000 fps is a GREAT load!

Could not agree more, has worked every time for me with a 7mm.

+1 This is exactly what I did with my Savage 111 7m with 24 inch tube. I get right around 3,000 fps. Very accurate too. I just shot a 3 shot group at 100 yards that was around 1/2 inch last week.
