Rich,

Congrats! Post some pictures of your RUM under the X-Mas tree.

Sorry, no X-mas tree, but I'll take some pic of the 338RUM and the 7MMRUM and get them posted. I suppose I can include the 300RUM as well.

You got to have the 375. If I had to give up all my guns (including the RUMs) it would be the last one they would pry from my "you know the rest".

I'd like too, but after buying three rifles, along with the scopes and all of the reloading components/equipment for those calibers this summer, I'm pretty well tapped out for a quite a while.

All you really need is the 7 and the 375 for the whole planet!
All I need is my270 Bee and my 416 Bee for the whole planet..... so what am I doing with a 30-378 Bee, 7mm 08, 356 Win, 45-70 blah, blah blah.........

Greg, just out of curiousity, what scope magnification are you using on your 375? I have higher magnifications (4.5-14x and 5-16x) on my other RUMs, but figure the 375 may be better suited to, say, a 3-10x or even the 2.5-8x. I guess another 4.5-14x may even work.

This is "Classified" intelligence and best not to put it in writing. God forbid, if this G2 were to get into the wrong hands (aka WIFE), our toy boxes would have excessive space for our managers to store extra shoes and purses.

You really do NEED the entire RUM or Wby family.

POP the other rifles are for the next whole planet. More thn one planet more then one gun.

Rich, I rebarreled my Ruger No. 1 from 7mm Rem. Mag. to 7mm RUM. At first, finding a load was frustrating as hell :x . H870 was no longer available. Then along came Retumbo. For some reason my gun didn't like it much. I couldn't load anywhere near max, velocities were'nt where I felt they should be & groups were no screamin hell either. I also tried US869. Groups weren't too bad but velocities were low. Then came H50BMG, finally. My barrel is stainless 27.5". Velocity is 3450 with the 160 AB & on a good day, I can keep 3 close to 1/2". 8). Being able to customize the C.O.L. certainly helped too. My best shot to date was a small buck for my brother-in-law at 350 yards. My Ruger is over 30 years old & I decided to rebarrel & have some fun at the same time. I absolutely don't regret it & nether will you .

It is a flat shooting machine, that is the truth...however you gotta get the velocity and the accuracy. My problem was getting acceptable levels of both with 140 gr. 160 gr were not a problem at all.

POP, that is the truth for sure :) . Admittedly, I didn't spend much time with the 140; couldn't get it to shoot. The 160 has always been my choice in the 7mm mags. It took me awhile to work it up & then, as I said before, along came H50BMG 8). Up here we are a year behind getting this stuff, but when it came & proved to be what I needed, I got an 8 pounder. I think that should last awhile .

Richracer1,

I have a 4.5x14 Zeiss on mine. I shoot the 260 gr. AccuBond at 3080 FPS. so it has reach. I added a "tuned trajectory compensator" from Kenton Industries ( kenton5@sbcglobal.net) for about $80 which is just a BDC target turret custom for my load. This is right on out to the 500 yds. I've tried it to. This scope is light and strong & since elk are usually way out there it works for me. I don't use the 375 RUM as a brush buster round.
Good luck and post pictures and info. I have load data for that one load if you'd like it.
Good Hunting
Elkhunt
