7MM RUM

Pop,
I've taken 4 elk with that load from 30 to 250+ yards and if I could sit and write a dream list of what I would want in a perfect bullet and load (that's an almost impossible dream) this load in the .375 RUM would surpass my dream list's expectations. It's that good. It would challenge the smartest smart bomb in knowing exactly when to unload maximum energy. It's done it so reliably that I've come to expect it.
It took a while to develop this load and I almost feel I should patent it.

I was running the 260 AB at close to 3200 from my 378 Bee. I no longer have it though.
Now I have the 416 Bee but hard to find high bc bullets.....

Richracer1,

I have a 4.5x14 Zeiss on mine. I shoot the 260 gr. AccuBond at 3080 FPS. so it has reach. I added a "tuned trajectory compensator" from Kenton Industries ( kenton5@sbcglobal.net) for about $80 which is just a BDC target turret custom for my load. This is right on out to the 500 yds. I've tried it to. This scope is light and strong & since elk are usually way out there it works for me. I don't use the 375 RUM as a brush buster round.
Good luck and post pictures and info. I have load data for that one load if you'd like it.

Greg, if you don't mind, will you PM me that load data for the 260AB.

Rich, I rebarreled my Ruger No. 1 from 7mm Rem. Mag. to 7mm RUM. At first, finding a load was frustrating as hell :x . H870 was no longer available. Then along came Retumbo. For some reason my gun didn't like it much. I couldn't load anywhere near max, velocities were'nt where I felt they should be & groups were no screamin hell either. I also tried US869. Groups weren't too bad but velocities were low. Then came H50BMG, finally. My barrel is stainless 27.5". Velocity is 3450 with the 160 AB & on a good day, I can keep 3 close to 1/2". 8). Being able to customize the C.O.L. certainly helped too. My best shot to date was a small buck for my brother-in-law at 350 yards. My Ruger is over 30 years old & I decided to rebarrel & have some fun at the same time. I absolutely don't regret it & nether will you .

I'm glad you mentioned this. Most of the velocities that I have seen with the 140 & 160 have not been above the STW enough to matter, but 3,450
is a different story.

Rich,

Congrats! Post some pictures of your RUM under the X-Mas tree.

JD338

Sorry, no X-mas tree, but I'll take some pic of the 338RUM and the 7MMRUM and get them posted. I suppose I can include the 300RUM as well.

Well the wait is over. The 7RUM is home. Scope is mounted, load developement has begun, now if the weather would cooperate. I'll post some pics of my RUM family soon.

Richracer1,

Congrats! I moved up to the Ultra calibers 7 years ago and never looked back(or for wounded animals) again!!
They are unbelievably accurate also, you'll see.

Good Hunting

Ha! I knew it was coming!!!!

You were right POP, just a lot sooner than I anticipated. Couldn't pass up the chance at an LSS 375RUM. It was cheaper than an XCR.
