7mm stw

I'm just trying to find out what the most accurate powders are for the 7mm stw. i just recently purchased the rifle. it's a winchester model 70 with a 26 inch barrel. i shot the gun in with factory ammo. the grouping wasn't bad, but i know it can do alot better when i find the right powder! any information will help.

I've had excellent results with H1000 and 140 gr. B-Tips.

I have had good success with 7828 with the lighter bullets, but personally feel that the STW shines with 160 grain bullets. For these, and the 175's, it's hard to beat Retumbo or H5010. Both will give max velocities and wonderfully small groups in my rifle. [M700, Pac-Nor SSSM, 1-10" twist, 27"] Regards, Eagleye.

Talking about the 7mm stw, i have had success with 140, 150, and 160 grain bullets. h4831, h1000,reloder19, and reloder22 have all been great with the 140 grain bullets, with the 4831 being the best. the 150,and 160 grain imr 7828,reloder19,and h1000 have all been outstanding. the stw is definitly one of my favorite calibers, and alot of different powders work great in this caliber. it's almost too hard to choose on which one works the best, but for the heavier bullets i would probally go with the h 1000.

I have two 7stws and also reload for a friend. The load I have found to be the best is 80.5 gr. of r-22 using a 150 ballistic tip.(shoots under .25 inch groups in all three guns) It really is cranking out there and the collateral damage on deer is incredible. :lol: :lol: :lol:

I'll 2nd POP's choice. The big 7s really shine @ longer range w/ 160gr bullets, they don't start as fast but hold their vel. / energy better.

also try h1000 I have had good luck with this powder in my magnum cases
