I am wondering what quick load has to say about what powders to use in the 7mm weatherby as to the highest velocity. 150 grain ballistic tips,160 grain AccuBond, and 175 grain Partition. thanks

I'd love to get me hands on some RL33 for tests on several cartridges.
 
i worked up a load with 7828 and 150 ball tip. I think that I should have used a tougher bullet because here in pa bear and deer are in at the same time. Some of our bears are like 800 pounds and can be shot at close range. I'm having my doubts about the 150 grainer being able to go through a shoulder bone , a layer of fat, and still be able to take out two lungs. What do you think? I'm moving them at 3200.
 
Impact velocity above 3000 fps becomes somewhat dicey. With the potential for close shops at velocities in excess of 3000, you would be more certain of penetration with either a PT or an AB.

Put the 150 BT into water jugs up close, right outta muzzle, see how it holds up is the best way to verify what it should do. Water is a hard medium and put into jugs up close, it'll hammer less than ideal bullets. I do this with them all. I wanna know, not guess at what will happen up close and far away. Plus, we all like to see the results! :lol:
 
I will begin handloading for the rifle I recently got a euromark reloader 33 is the best powder out there so far from what I see
 
I have a 150 grainer that I stopped in some jugs. I could email some pics to someone for posting.
 
I have some of that n 570 ....I'm normally against compressing that much powder but if someone here thinks that it might work I might try it. I'm actually running a an old 7mm mashburn wildcat. I think that the round is basically a necked down 300 win mag. I wasn't sure how to get load data for the mashburn so I had you run the weatherby which is smaller and has free bore. The mashburn is bigger but has no free bore. Are there any 7mm 300 wildcats that quick load has data for?
 
If you measure the H20 capacity of a fired case someone with Quick Load could tailor some data for you. Shouldn't be hard at all.
 
I measured the case capacity and came up with 86 grains of water from a fired case. Rifle is a 24 inch barreled Remington 700 with the throat cut for a 175 grains Partition so that the coal set so that the bullet set so that the bullet hits the rifling at 3.65 inches.
 
I am particularly interested in the 160 grain AccuBond and the 175 grains Partition. Something that could be smashed into the side of a 700 pound black bear or moose at 25 yards yet still expand on a 155 pound deer at 400 yards.
