Got out on Saturday to do some long range work with the 338LM and the 300 AB. Set up a 12"x12" steel swinger at what ended up being 812 yards. Weather was good with wind wind blowing from 2-12 from my 4:30 on top of the hill. It looked to be a bit more full value looking at the mirage through the scope so I doped for 5mph from 3 o'clock and ended up being wrong with that round impacting about a foot and a half right of the target. Took 2 more rounds to get on target. Ended up actually having a click left on the scope to get hits. Spin drift apparently was enough to take whatever right to left wind out of the equation. Anyway, got much better percentage of hits this time than last. According to the shooter app, bullet flight time was 1.09 second which was just enough to get back on target after recoil and spot my own shots which was good because I was by myself. Shot a couple of videos to share with you all.

Going to have to work up a new warm weather load though as I was getting some sticky bolts with the warmer weather.... Had a fun day shooting though. Also did some shooting with the 22-250 at 400 and 525 with the 40gr Varmageddon. At those ranges with that little bullet it's good practice for reading wind!

Tim
