I do not want to eat venison this year, I want elk.

Yeah, wives can speak quite plainly on occasion. Then, there are other times that we are supposed to intuit their intentions or understand by osmosis :? .

Holy smokes! I thought mine was one of a kind but I see they all track like Tasco's on a 378 Wby. Just never know which way its going to go! Scotty

Mine tracks more like a Zeiss Diavari but on her own particular wave length.

DrMike, I like the bigger stuff for moose but they are lethargic and my dad used to kill them regularly with a 7mm Mauser and a .30-06. I am sure that what ever you choose will work fine. I would use the .350 Rem as a sentimental favorite.

Hopefully Mike has a chance to test out his 9.3 or 35 Whelen. Those would be some fearsome moose thumpers. I know my Whelen is just aching to get out and remind me of what a great cartridge it is. I have the 250gr PTs singing and man they are very accurate. Scotty

I'll have a couple of elk on tap that may get attention from the 35 Whelen. I'm doubtful that the 9.3 X 64 is going to be ready this fall. Of course, I could always be surprised...

Hey Doc that was some fine shooting. I have not heard back but I sure hope that you have your thinking cap on when my 35 whelen is ready to go as I see that you mean business with your load work ups.
As far as wild game table fare, my first choice would be Speed Goats but with 7 brothers and sisters it hard to invite them over for more than one meal
My second is Elk especially farmland elk as they sure are tasty grain fed :)

Man, you guys are just making me hungry right now. Can't wait to start bowhunting in a few weeks. Some fresh venison is really sounding pretty good right now. Scotty

The moose we've taken from the broccoli fields in Maine have been scrumptious!! They do give me gas tho, wonder if it's from all the broccoli they eat...

I think it would be a shorter list for me to list what doesn't give me gas! Moose over broccoli does sound like a well fed animal! Scotty

Bear off of oats, elk and moose off of alfalfa--all are excellent table fare. Each is worthy of an invite to share the meal.

Man, I am really looking forward to trying the bear off of oats Mike. It sounds excellent. Never had a bear off of an ag field, usually just mountain bear feeding off of about everything available on the hill. Scotty
