Aftermarket 1911 mags

I've been a fan of Galco for a long time, but there are some great holsters out there.
Jury is still out on the paddle holster however. I asked Santa for the paddle holster because i would neglect to go through the process of "saddling up" just to make a quick trip to the hardware store kind of thing.
A couple long days driving to Tucson convinced me a belt holster is more comfortable.
Kinda hard to beat the paddle for that quick trip to town however.

If you buy or can compare a factory magazine or other aftermarket with a Metal Form you will be surprised to see that the follower is the only difference sometimes. I have Wilson, Chip McCormick and MecGar, granted I only use them in my full custom 1911 .45 acp and my 38 Super but Metal Form are the ones I trust to be reliable to feed my popcorn fart target loads.
My Wilson magazines started malfunctioning before Camp Perry last year, a friend lent me a pair of Metal Form 8 round magazines to use till I could buy some of my own, 1800 rounds down range with no malfunctions from a custom barreled 1911 .45 that locks up so tight you have to pop the muzzle with the palm of your hand to get it out of battery to rack the slide unless you have some strong hands. I picked up a pair at one of the Camp Perry venders so I could return the ones that were borrowed.

After you told me it was a Galco I realized I have one of those in black for my 5" 1911. I bought it for almost the same reason. I thought it would be more comfortable to wear when I was traveling in uniform rather than wearing my duty belt. I could just tack on when I get out of the car.

I thought I would post some photos of 9mm magazines to show the two different ways manufacturers block the magazine due to 9mm round being a bit shorter than a 45 acp. The Mec Gar presses a ridge into the front of the mag. All other companies peen a metal plate down the back of the mag. The bare metal mag is a factory Springfield which I guess is from Metal Form. The other is a Mec Gar. I just gotta believe the pressed in spacer that is integral to the entire magazine body will be more durable and reliable than a mag that has peened parts. IMHO
