Is Alliant ceasing production of RL22 and RL25? I was just informed that it is no longer available in Canada, and suppliers are being told it will no longer be produced. Since Powder Pro 4000 and Powder Pro 2000 appear to cover the burn rates represented by these two powders, is it possible that these powders are about to disappear? I've ordered some Powder Pro AR-Comp, Powder Pro 2000 MR and Powder Pro 4000 MR. Whatever is happening, I need to be ahead of the curve.

I am not hurt about RL25, but RL22! Jeeze, that would just about make me have to rework a good portion of my loads? I wonder if there is any truth to this Mike. RL22 is kinda like PB&J around here!

RL22 and RL25 are still listed on their web site, but there isn't any to be had up here and the distributors are bruiting this story about. You are correct, though, that it will necessitate some significant adjustment for people. I have to wonder if RL15 would also get the ax so that the AR-Comp could flourish?

Wow---- I hope not. RL15 would just about break me! 15, 19 and 22 are my go to powders!

Still plenty in supply here. Heck even Bass Pro Shop has RL22 & RL25. Haven't heard anything here Dr. Mike.

I'll be doing some more exploring on this matter.

No loss for me, H4831SC and H1000 out perform RL powders with all my loads in all my calibers,
with the benefit of less temperature sensitivity. (Maybe)

I feel for you guys that have rifles that like them however.

I'm glad I made the switch to Hodgdon and and some Ramshot powder. I found Hodgdon to be more consistant over the Alliant stuff in general.

Might be time to stock up on one of those bigger jugs of some of your favorites.

I use a fair amount of Alliant powders. Most of the powders represented in Canada have crossed my bench at one time or another. I just hate to see the choice diminished, especially if there is not a replacement provided. I suspect that if Alliant is discontinuing these powders, we will be informed that the Powder Pro series is offered in their place.

See, I don't see the point. I know I would run out in the worst time, then I'd be left scrambling to find something to replace it. Man, I hate the thought of reworking known good loads!

That is going to hurt. RL 22 is my powder for my 280 AI.
I guess is back to IMR 4831 in the AI.

Good thing I have a few 5 pounders of R-22. Generally 7828 is a pretty close match to R-22 though and most of my guns will shoot both powders close to the same.

My 280 AI shoots both these really well also. Speed is about the same as well.

Just about every gun I've tried both powders in gave nearly identical velocity and accuracy. If anything 7828 typically shoots better in most of my guns. You just load 1 more grain of powder with 7828.

Damn this reminds me of the primer shortage of a few years ago, I will have to stock up if I can find some, while I have found 7828 similar where I have tried it I always lost a few fps not a biggy if the groups are there. I'll be on the hunt for some alliant powders. Dr. Mike I am wondering who told you this, seeing your local I assume it's Corlanes and they are ussually up on all things gunny this side of the 49th.

I contacted Customer Service at Alliant Powder, The Service Manager said "NO" regarding R 22.
I think I may stock up just in case!
