Am I the only one who can't wait to see if I drew any hunts?

I am waiting for two more results, Oregon and Idaho. Both draw later in June. I should get at least one of them, but am hoping for both. If I draw Idaho I will skip Washington this year for elk, and chase deer in my backyard during the bow season's.

Yup. Should know in late June what, if anything, my son and I drew. Washington & Wyoming.

:) I sure hope so! Can find them when carrying my camera... But it's different when they know they're being hunted...

Oh yes... There's a herd of about 5,000 elk, only a few miles from my home. It's normally "spike only" but more cow tags have been avail recently, as the WDFW seeks to trim that herd a bit. I think their goal is to reduce it to about 4,000 elk, to better fit the available feed.

I go up and watch the elk a couple of times a year, but seldom hunt them.

Odds are good, today Oregon will release the tag draw results. I have good odds for drawing Deer 90%, Elk 90% And Antelope 65%

Washington and the WDFW, have their problems, but overall I'm pretty happy with the "system" here.

Without being drawn for a doggone thing I can hunt deer, elk and bear every year, year after year. Just buy the license and tag and hunt during the normal season. I know guys who are very successful hunters and have never applied for a special "draw" tag.

In Washington the special applications fall into two categories - the way I see it:

1. Special seasons for the regular animals, such as late season "rut" hunts for big mule deer...

2. Seasons for those "once in a lifetime" tags: moose, bighorn sheep & mountain goat

It can take a while to be drawn for some of the special tags, like the 9 years I waited for the cow elk tag in that particular area, but if I'd been more willing to hunt another area, I could likely have drawn that cow tag years ago.

Doubt I'll EVER draw one of the "once in a lifetime" tags - but have been applying for my son for those for quite a few years. He's 25 now, and I suspect that over the years he'll draw some pretty good tags... It's a nice birthday present for him every spring - funding his special application tags.

Well... Cow elk tag, Washington. YES! (y)

Congrats!!! Great results Guy.

Do you have a good area to chase elk?

Congratulations Guy. Sounds like you can hunt them pretty close to home
we have a small herd of elk in the yukon but usually we go to B.C. to hunt them. For the most part our easy food supply is Caribou as we have 200,000 of them, all north of Dawson.

Awesome! I hope to someday hunt caribou. It would be quite an adventure for me!

Perhaps of interest, there is a small herd of caribou that frequents Washington State! Up in the far northeast corner of the state, in the Selkirk Mountains, adjacent to British Columbia and Idaho. Seldom seen, and in a very remote area and absolutely not to be hunted. I've never seen them, but their presence is well documented. Would love to see them someday!

Well our draw came out today. We were drawn for Swamp Donkeys  down at the farm I now know that there will be Moose meat in my freezer this winter you just can't beat grain fed Moose
We also were drawn for Mule Deer in my favourite zone . Life is going to be good this fall as I still have to wait to see if we get drawn for Prairie goats and we also have a Elk hunt planned.

Blessings,
Dan

everyone else is waiting on results, i'm waiting to be able to put in for my draw.

I did just purchase 3 PA elk raffle tickets for me and 3 for my dad, but will also put in for the regular PA elk drawing too since it's an extra $10 for a chance, just have to wait for this year's license to go on sale. I know I would be super thrilled if dad won the raffle & I got a regular season tag but wait until the end of august to find out.

I finally got done applying for everything last night. My hunting buddy and I put in for:
ID Bull elk
ID Buck Mule deer
ID Extra elk
ID Extra deer
ID doe antelope
AZ Coues Whitetail
UT Cow elk

It's pretty good odds (over 50%) on everything but the ID bull elk and buck mule deer drawings. I'll buy general elk and deer tags if I don't draw those and my normal non-resident tags. This year could be 4 elk, 4 deer, and a antelope year for me plus a elk and a moose for the wife. I should know the results from ID before the end of the month. AZ and UT should be the first part of July.

Drew my deer tag again 177 and our Bull Elk tags. No Antelope. My hunt schedule will be the same as the last 4 years. 2 weeks of deer camp, 1 week home, 1 week Goose/Duck, 1 week home, 12 days for Elk then hunt Geese/Ducks from home. Central Oregon Cougar camp 2017 in February

We will know Tuesday 6/21 if we drew antelope tags in WY.
Fingers crossed.

Blanked on mule deer again. We drew spike bull tags in the Walla Walla again.
