Am I the only one who can't wait to see if I drew any hunts?

Still awaiting the draw. Yeah, the anticipation is growing now.

Good luck to you Mike, hope you pull the tags.

Thanks, Bill. I anticipate receiving the results by next week.

I can understand you being excited DrMike it has been a year or 2 since you have pulled the trigger on a critter .
Good luck my friend (y) hope you hear soon.

Blessings,
Dan

The results are online DrMike, Blkram and other B.C. members here, hope you all were successful.

I'll have to make do with antlerless mule deer down south in November and goat and grizzly tags here at home

Good deal Scotty, spike here in Oregon? Did you get Wyoming as well? I'm quite sure you will do well.

I've got Wyoming and Oregon tags. Life is good here Bill. Elk tags make a guy happy.

I was unsuccessful on goat (high odds as it was an easy climb that even I might be able to make), late season elk (guess I'll have to get serious during the regular season this year) or a mule deer doe season (mule deer populations are depressed, so I haven't shot one in two years and may not even attempt to tag one this year). However, grizzly! Seven-thirty-eight, Gerry. Up beyond Fort Ware. Gil, Susan and I will be hunting grizzly, moose, elk, caribou, whitetail, mule deer and black bear during our time over there. Should be a good time with great friends in a good area. I want to get the 358 Norma Magnum and the 8X68S shooting some good loads for this hunt. Yee haw!

That is a bit of a drive from your place, sounds like fun. Big grizzlies in that area from what I hear and lots of other critters. Should be some good fishing too. I do believe Blkram showed Dan and I that spot for goats and I hope you draw it soon the goats were in an excellent spot to hunt.

The tags I did draw were a pretty high odds antlerless mule deer, so I'm happy about that since I have never taken a mule deer of any sort.

The goat is in an area that I have wanted to hunt for a while so a pastor friend (the guy who just started hunting this spring) and Dave who you met a couple of years back drew a group hunt.

The grizzly tag is in my all time favorite mountain range so I'm happy to look there and it is also an open season area for goats so we could also tag one there.

Unsuccessful for Bison and elk near you, and the moose tag here has become a once in a lifetime draw if you are lucky. Ewe bighorn down south was also a high odds tag but I'm hoping for that one in the next few years.

Congratulations, Gerry; you did very well. (y) Sounds as if you have a busy fall ahead of you. Man, I can't wait to see the pictures from your hunts. Bison is always a tough draw. The hunt is pretty demanding without a sled since it is so late in the year. Still, it can be very gratifying. Elk? Well, you know what that is like. It sounds so easy.

I'm looking forward to a scouting trip with Gil sometime this summer. I need to get to work on my loads. I mean, it's not as if I don't have other rifles/loads I can carry, though.

You certainly have some good guns to fall back on but I can see it would be nice to use the new 8x68 and 358 Norma, both will hit a grizz hard......

You will be just a short hop from the Sustut which is part of the Skeena and somewhere I hope to visit one day, fly into one of the remote lakes there.

And yes the elk tag in theory sounds easy if you draw the tag

Actually, I would have no difficult taking either the 350 RM or the 35 Whelen on this hunt. My last grizzly was taken with my .356, which worked quite well. As far as that goes, the 30-06 would work very well. Yes, there are some big bears in that zone; and yes, it is near some excellent territory just west of there. Yeah, I'm pumped tonight.

You should be, that is some nice country. I hope you dream of 9' silvertips the next few months :)

Gerry, Dr Mike, congratulations guys, that is great enjoy your hunts!

Scotty, you also did very well, congratulations.

on a lighter side

I drew a caribou today---not a tag, I just drew one on a piece of paper for a young niece. For the record I will not give up my day job in an attempt to become an artist

I'm with Gerry on this. (y) If we don't see it, it didn't happen.

Congratulations to my BC hunting family  , it sound like there are going to be some great stories along with spectacular photographs.
gerry is Maria got a tag for anterless mule deer as well?
gerry the new 270win should work excellent on the mulie doe (y) and your Whelen should do a real number on the griz .

Blessings,
Dan

Congratulations to you DrMike along with Blkram (y) I am so glad that you both were able to pick up some tags. DrMike I guess it will be another season of you teaching the youngster the finer points of hunting & markmanship .
Anyways I am sure looking forward to find out which rifle you decide on and then to watch your load development as well. I am quite sure by the time the season starts you will have your rifle shooting very small cloverleafs.
I believe the whole forum can't wait for your stories and spectacular photographs.

Blessings,
Dan

Gil doesn't have to pick up tags, Dan. The boy has a pass. I'll likely take the 8X68S and the 358 Norma Mag. You know what sort of accuracy/velocity I get out of the 358 since you were with me at the range the first time I shot it. It would be nice to find one of the big chocolate grizzlies that hang out in that particular region. This is a picture of one. I didn't take this picture, but it is representative of what is in that zone.
