I joined the band wagon…

My local store had them for $50 off for the stainless version. So I got it for $369. I just couldn't pass it up at that price.

I got the Ruger American All Weather, 22" barrel in 308. Cabelas had Win brass, so I ordered two bags (100 total). I have plenty of Varget, and WLR primers. Still thinking about bullets. Probably try Nos BT in 150 grn, and Horandy SST (also in 150 grn). Although I do see a lot of folks like 165 grn.

Leupold PNW 'Low' rings, but am going to see if the factor Weaver style aluminum bases will work out. Glass will just be my spare Nikon Buckmaster 3x9 40mm (hopefully it will fit the Low rings).

Anyway, just a toy/back-up rifle. It's not going to make it in the line-up for this years hunting season, so I have lots of time to tinker with a load.

That sounds like a great bargain. Congratulations! Classic cartridge in what is turning out to be a very fine rifle.

Gotta tell ya, I have looked at them a few times as a fun, knockaround sorta rifle that can ride on the quads with no worries.. Still might do one of them.

I took it apart, and looked at the bedding. Pretty basic, and an interesting idea. Basically two aluminum wedges in the stock where the action screws come in, and the action is machined to match them. The torque spec is 75 inch-lbs, which is more then my inch-lbs torque wrench goes :? , but oh well.

The trigger is super easy to adjust. Just a single set screw. 6 turns is the total range from 5# to 3#.

The action isn't the smoothest. My Ruger Mark II, the bolt glides like it's on roller bearings. The RA… not so much. Not a big deal, just a comment.
