What do you fellas use for Antelope hunting?

I am hunting with Fotis the end of the month and will be bringing my M700 280 AI. The action has been blue printed, Tubb recoil lug, and a Hart 24" #5 fluted barrel pillar bedded into a LSS stock. Scope is a VX-3 3.5-10x40mm with a CDS dial. The load is a 140 gr AB ahead of 63.0 grs RL 22 in a R-P case and sparked with a Federal GM215M primer. MV is 3150 fps.
Here is my goat getter.....

90 gr AB at 3200 fps

I am totally jealousy and envious, wonder what other sins I could think of but you get the idea. You guys ought to have a ball and it will be cool to see how the hunt turns out, man would I love to put that 8mm Rem Mag 220gr loose on one of those antelope so I could record a picture like FOTIS did on one using a big gun.

...no goat tag this year, but...

I believe that would be close to ideal!

I'll second that. Nice rig.

Well, if Jerry and I are coming down there in the next year or two, I'll have to give this some serious thought. It could be one of my 280s, my 257 Bob, my 260, or possibly, even my 280 Ross!

Well if we get to go to Wyoming, they have the Hat 6 ranch closed because of a fire right now, then I'm taking my .458 Lott, .338 Edge, and 7-300wm or 6.5-300wm if PTG get's my reamers done in time.

Jim I love seeing your Remington rifles, that 280 AI is a really nice build.

God willing when DrMike and I make it down for the antelope hunt I will likely be using this:

The Savage 10 Predator Max 1 in 260 Remington, This gun has been on order for quite a while, hopefully it will make it across the border soon. I'm hoping for a good load with the 140 gr Ballistic Tip but may opt for a 130 gr Swift or AccuBond if it shoots better.

BTW Fotis how are you liking your Savage since it's pretty much the same gun I have coming?

Loving it! sub 1/2" groups at 100 yds all day long with H4350. Velocity is 3220 more or less with the 90 gr AB's Perfect predator gun!

Pretty sweet gun mine NEEDS to get here soon

If I ever draw another goat tag (or if I head to Wyoming/Montana) I'll drag my .257 Weatherby, my .25-06, and my .243...

Not making it again this year, but had this 6.5x257Rob.AI built with Antelope in mind.
Albeit, the scope and rings have been changed since the pic was taken.

However, this XP 6mmAI would work too.

Otherwise if the needed, the 6mmAI 26" Encore.

Kurt,

If I would have drew a doe tag, I was going to bring the 338 RUM along with my 280 AI.
I only have a buck tag so I am going to bring the 280 AI. This also allows me to bring home a new to me rifle.......maybe a 444.

In the future, I can see myself taking a 25-06.

JD,

Your 280AI is perfect. My Favorite Antelope rifle is a Weatherby Ultra light 280rem w/ 3-10 Swarovski scope. I use 160 Partitions so it works well on Deer & Elk too. I am going a use a 338wm this year. I have taken Elk & deer with it so I want some Antelope blood on it just to see what happens. Let me know when you are going to be in town we can swap some stories with you and Fotis. Brian
