Any plans for a new rifle in 2025?

You will definitely see a cleaner burn for sure. I bet that 20” was giving a nice fireball with W760 and BG.
Actually, I never noticed a fire ball but there could have been. There was one range member also shooting when I found the load using Big Game but he never said anything. Guess he was kind of occupied with his own shooting.

I had a Sako model 85 in 270 Win in the back of the safe Buddy had a Tikka barrel, stainless, fluted in 6.5 CM .

Took them to my local gunsmith and had the 6.5 CM re-chambered to a 6.5-284 Norma with a long throat and cut and thread to 20 inches.

The tikka barrel threads are the same a Sako……just screwed on and confirmed with go/no-go

Got it back last week, but no time yet at the range

Came across an ad for a LH Rem 700 XCR in 7mm Rem Mag the other day. With the Trynite coating on the metal work, the actions on this model have been the slickest I have seen out of the box for Remington 700s (built my 280 Rem on this action).
Don't "need" another 7mm Rem Mag, as the LH X Bolt All Weather is shooting pretty good (3 different factory loads all under an inch @ 100 yards)...but haven't heard back from the seller as yet.

I guess this is as good a place as any to put up my 1st post around here. Plan at beginning of the year was nothing new, just work with what is here and try to wrap up a couple projects. That said....
There is now a 16.5" Shilen Select Match "Heavy Sporter" barrel here chambered for 6x47 Lapua and threaded for Savage action. If curious about the SHORT barrel, it was originally someone else's idea, he decided to go a different way with his project so more or less dumped the barrel om a different forum. I have a random thought (or maybe this is a WILD IDEA, there are a lot of both floating around) that it would all go together and make a very nice Short Barrel Blind Rifle (SBBR). I hunt out of a Box Blind so short is better and max range is 70 yards at most so any velocity loss is irrelevant. I picked up a Savage Axis 2 in 7-08 for a donor. With the ease of the Savage Barrel Nut system I will potentially have a Switch Barrel setup, which I guess will make it an SBSBBR. Leupold VX Freedom 1-4x and the factory stock will round out that project. The Axis is the latest version so it has the "Accustock" and Accu-Trigger.
Also on the new menu is a Ruger Super Redhawk in 10mm Auto. This is a "new to Me" gun. Burris 2x Handgun scope to be mounted, load development with 200gr Swift or HAWK and will be part of the hunting battery for this next season. 2025 will be at least partially a handgun hunting season.
As for projects to get finished at top of the list is a .340 WBY for my Son in Law. Have all the parts, just gotta get busy. Rem 700, Shilen and a semi-inletted Bastogne blank from WENIG.

Will close for now. Looking forward to comments. I should Probably say HI to JD338. If he remembers me it would be as Chuckbuster, or maybe the Bleeder....

Welcome aboard. I'm good with what I have. There is always a chance I'll see something I just have to have.

Cool build, looking forward to hearing how it shoots and hunts. Welcome to the forum

Hello Kevin,

I have 3 Wenig laminated stocks on custom rifles (2 pepper and 1 nutmeg). Have been very happy with them. (Also have a Fajen laminated stock (nutmeg) on a custom rifle I picked up used in 1999)
For those who may not know, Wenig was Fajen's shop manager before they shut down, and he went out on his own.

I look forward to seeing the finished 340 Wby when you get it done! Should be a nice stock!
