Of course it should be noted that the Winchester Model 70 "Featherweight" is hardly a lightweight rifle.
It's pretty much a standard weight rifle in today's world. A Model 70 Featherweight in .270 or .30-06 is rated at 7 pounds by Winchester. Without a scope, mounts, rings & sling. Could easily be a 9 pound rifle when carrying it.
Much lighter rifles are readily available.
