Bore Conditioning

Anybody ever use the Tubb final finish bore conditioning system? I've seen it around for a while but have not met anybody who's actually fooled with it. I guess I'm really wondering if you could end up trashing your barrel with this stuff. I've seen very little mention of it in several rifle forums, which may answer my question as to whether or not it's a worthwhile procedure, although I did see some interesting STW velocities posted on a reloading site and the guy who posted them mentioned that he had used the Tubb system on his rifle. I suppose if I just absolutely had to try it I could always shoot some through my brother in law's rifle

You must obey the instructions. Theres 5 different kinds of bullets, and each kind is more abrasive then the next. I haven't exactly used it myself, but have read of a few folks that have. To my knowledge it depends on how bad your bore is, depending on what bullets you start with. I know that after you use it, you can usually add a grain or two of powder for a little increase in velocity. So I've read/heard.

I have used it on a 270 Weatherby that had slight throat errosion. It helped clean it up a little. I would use it again. It does not take a lot of metal off. I would not use it on a match barrel, but would use it on any standard barrel.

It will not fix a worn out barrel, but will make a standard barrel shoot better. The groups tightened up a little, but the Weatherby shot well to start with.
