Begun by bore sighting. First shot at 25 yards 4'' low and 4'' right then adjusted scope.I ran a spit patch after every shot throughout the test to be consistent. Second shot was 2''high and dead on east to west. Now I could move to 100 yards. First 3 shot group was with 250 grain TC Shockwave, 100 grains of Triple 7 FFG and 25 ACP breech plug gave me a 3'' group. Next were the 250 Barnes with the blue tip. Same 3'' group. I only have 10 25 acp cases so I switched breech plugs to the LRVF. Next were the Precision rifle 250 grain QT polymer tip again another 3'' group. Hornady 250 grain were the next up same load same procedure resulted in a 2.5'' group. Since I have a number of the 250 QT's I gave them another try with LRVF breech plug and could not improve my group size. That ended Thursday evenings session. Picked up some 200 and 240 grain Precision Rifle Dead Center bullets o Friday. Reprimed the 25 acp cases and the LRVF adapters. Saturday shot the 200 and 240 grain Dead Centers with 100 grains of Triple 7 FFG and all 3 breech plugs the 209 breech plug was not as consistent as the other 2 but I still could not get groups better than 3''. Also shot the 250 grain Precision rifle QT's with the 209 breech plug again could not improve groups better than 3''. Cleaned up everything at the range and headed into town somewhat dissapointed. Not wanting to accept what happened I stopped at the hardware store when I got back into town and picked up a pound of Triple 7 FFFG and headed back to my range. I did not go home and reprime the 25 and LRVF breech plugs so I just had the 209 to work with. I put in 125 grains of the FFFG and the 200 grain Dead Centers the first 2 shots were about 5/8'' apart and the 3rd shot went 3.5'' away. The 240 grain Dead Centers with 125 grains of FFFG Triple 7 gave me a 3.5'' group. Next were the 250 grain Precision Rifle QT polymer tip and 125 grains of the FFFG. First two shots 3/4'' apart and 3rd shot opened up to 3.5''. I was about beat at this point so I cleaned all up again and called it a day. If I can get consistently smaller groups with the 25 and LRVF breech plugs then it will match the manufacturers claim of eliminating the unwanted flyers. I need to find more 25 ACP cases which in these parts is like looking for hens teeth. This will speed up the process somewhat. Also want to get some 250 grain Barnes TMZ to try they shot extremely well in my Wolverine and also some 250 grain TC Shockwave with the Superglide sabots whcih I have been reading good things about. I'll have more to report at that point.

STW,

I have found that best accuracy is around 100 grs. Your rifle seems to want to shoot, the 3rd round flyer is the problem.
Is the scope mounts and rings tight? What kind of scope are you using?

TC OMEGA Z5 with Lepold VX3 2.5-8 on leupold dual dovetail rings and leupold base.

I have found good accuracy with 90 and 110gr of FFG and the 250gr ShockWaves and XTPs(edit - actually SSTs) in my Encore. I have had so-so results with 95, 100 and 105gr of same using same bullets. With the 300gr XTP bullet I have had good results with 100gr FFG.

FFFG is hotter than FFG. Using 125gr of FFFG is very warm in my opinion.

I want to try out a 25acp conversion plug. Your work interests me.

Black Horn 209 is a great powder,no cleaning between shots and a std. 209 primer(not the ML type) is all thats req'd.

STW, have you done any more shooting with the PR LR primer adaptor? How is it working out for you?

Finally had a moment to get back to the range with the TC OMEGA. I just used the standard 209 breech plug and 105 grains FFG Triple Seven and the Barnes 250 Expander MZ bullets. 3 shots at 100 yards gave me an inch and a quarter group. I had to try it 2 more times to make sure it was not luck and it repeated as in the first group. I swabbed the bore with a spit patch in between shots. I still have to locate more 25 acp brass to complete my comparison but will not likely be able to complete until next spring, anyhow this is more than good enough to go hunting with. I don't have much time to spend at the range right now as hunting season is on.

I've had great success with my Omega and the 250 barnes TMZ. 150gr of triple 7 (3 pellets) and regular winchester 209, gives me 1 1/2" groups. Out of curiosity when you say spit patch, are you also running a couple dry ones down after it.
