Does anyone own a CZ rifle. I am thinking of getting one in 204 Ruger. I have never owned one, but from what I have read they seem to be well made. I was also considering a Ruger or Savage in the same caliber, but am leaning toward a CZ. I like the fact that it is clip fed. It is a lot easier to pop a clip in and out when hunting predators at night. I wish Winchester would bring back out their super short action. I really like the look of there older coyote models. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

CZ makes a fine rifle that tends to shoot well. I've handled and shot quite a few, and even owned one at one point. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a CZ American if it was chambered in a cartridge I wanted. Fine rifles at reasonable prices, they are easy to like.

Very accurate and well made rifles. I had 2 in 204 and thinking about a 3rd!

My .204 Ruger CZ has been a dandy varmint rifle! Topped with a 12x Leupold. Mostly I use it on rockchucks. Shot a few prairie dogs with it in Wyoming too. It works!

With the lighter bullets, an honest 4,000 fps is possible. Trajectory to 300 yds is very flat. Recoil is almost non-existent. The crosshairs don't come off target. Cartridge is a bit of a pain to load, the bullets are tiny. And I needed a new, smaller cleaning rod when I got it.

The rifle itself is nicely made. The set trigger took a little getting used-to, but it works great. Scope rings had to be a little higher than I'd like to clear the bolt.

I had the lighter model with the shorter, lighter barrel and a nice looking maple stock, but eventually I traded it out for the heavier barreled varmint model. It's still plenty light for walking around and taking scampering rock chucks. The CZ is a well made rifle. I'm glad one of the local shops was carrying them, or I'd have never considered it, but yes, it's a good rifle.

Have worked with the 35 gr Berger HP, 32 gr Noslers and 40 gr Hornady. Not sure I've got a preference. The 35 gr Berger was the most accurate at about 1/2 MOA. But it was also the least explosive on target.

I have a CZ 527, .204 Ruger rifle. I have had this rifle for about 5 years now. Mine is very accurate and shoots all of the available Nosler bullets in .204 to about 1/2 MOA groups. The only compliant that I have is that the CZ rifles are 1:12 twist and do not stabilize most bullets over 40 grains.

I have the CZ 527 American in the 204 in the lefty model  great rifle!!!

Blessings,
Dan

I had one in 223 and sold it as the safety was backwards from what I remember. Very handy feels rifle.

I am now re-thinking about another in 204, but am also thinking about a Remington M7 in 204.

Thoughts? The CZ has the single set trigger.

I have Tikka T3 in 204 which shoots well, but not quite as handi as the CZ was.

I looked at CZ and ended up with a Ruger why CZ safety is backwards, operates the wrong direction. I like Remington Winchester & Ruger rifles. I paid a little more but in the end but have a higher quality rifle IMHO. In the end I was glad I did & Made in the USA, keeps someone here a job. Good Shooting

I am not sure what you mean by the safety work backwards. I might just end up with a Ruger. I have one in another caliber and it shoots well. I really wanted one with a shorter barrel then 24". They are a little more handy for the type of hunting I do. I guess I should try and find a local gun shop that has a CZ and handle it to see how it feels.

That does seem backward. Is it odd to use or is it just a matter of getting used to it. My local gun shop doesn't have any in stock to look at. I would hate to buy one and not like the way the safety works. I think I am back leaning toward getting a Ruger. I am just more familiar with their guns.
