Nice, and SNOW...man...I think I ended up in the wrong state

And if you were with Dan, you'd not even be in a state.

Dan

Congratulations on a real slammer buck.

That is a gorgeous Buck for Dan! I really like those chocolate racked bucks. And the snow too! I really miss hunting in the snow.

Dr. Mike, I would of been in a state, a state of "euphoria". Thats a nice buck. I would just like to some day kill a buck that weights more than I do.

In my case, Bruce, that would be a very BIG buck.

Thanks guys for all the complements :). It was a Very Special Buck not because of the size but because that is the first time I have ever hunted with my 2 boys & nephew at the same time  The one on my right side is Mike and the on my left is Matty. The other is my nephew Austin who has been hunting with me since he was 5 or 6 years old and has been on a lot of my draw hunts. Well yesterday morning we went for a usual drive as we do the first 2 hours of each day and there was very heavy fog. I took my 270win with the new Leupold VX6 on top( it is sweet) and we were having real trouble seeing because of the fog but around 9:00am the fog began to lift and then we came around the corner and this big guy was standing on a hill. I ranged him with my new toy  Leica CRF 1600 B at 359 yards. I held just on the top of his back and squeezed he turned but I knew he was hit hard. I got to the crest of the hill and he was lying just on the other side. When we field dressed him the top of his heart was gone and his lungs were jello. He is a heavy 5 X 6 with a split left brow tine, I am not sure what he will score but there will be heavy deductions because of the junk :). That is okay because the company was great and to me that is what it is all about now. Don't get me wrong I still love to hunt but with my 3 boys it was perfect.
PS. Saturday afternoon I was able to rattle in 3 different bucks but all immature so left them to grow up. We took my buck in today and the butcher stated mine was his biggest buck to date and he weight 196lbs. Lots of steaks, sausage and a few roasts will be made out this fellow.
We still have Mulie and Cow Elk.
I am so BLESSED.

Blessings,
Dan

Congratulations Dan on a very nice deer. Your 270 Win is it a LH Remington or something different? Can't remember what your load is either. Nice shooting too.

Hey Gerry mine is a 270win CDL lefty with a 24" tube:). My nephew Austin bought the same model but in 7mm mag. Both rifles have had the Remington clip system installed.
I load for both rifles & they are sub 1" MOA.
In my 270win I load 130gr. Accubonds over top of 54grs. of IMR 4350 it is coming
out @ 3050fps .

Blessings,
Dan

GREAT SHOT Dan! That is a pig! Way to go buddy! Congrats on taking an awesome buck. Wished we could have some snow around this place...

Thanks Dan, that's a great combo you have there. It is really nice that you can hunt with your family like that, it will be nice when my nephews are old enough to hunt.
