My 19 year old daughter has been shooting for several years but never showed any interest in hunting until this year. Thanksgiving morning I took her out and about 90 minutes into the day, this 5 point came out of a thicket at about 150 yards. she rested her 7mm-08 on the ladder stand shooting rail and squeezed off the shot. At first I thought she missed because the buck didn't react, just as I was about to tell her to chamber another round, he fell over dead in his tracks..She was using a 140 grain AccuBond over 48.5 grains of RL-19...She made the perfect spot and the AccuBond punched a big exit hole..The lungs were destroyed and a nice big piece was blown from the top of the heart.

Congratulations to the huntress. She tagged a fine buck. No doubt you're proud of her.

Congrats!

I've noticed that whitetail in particular sometimes show little or no indication of being hit, when indeed, they're in the process of dying from a well-placed shot.

Very nice!

I love the 7-08, what a dandy round for deer sized critters!

Congrats to the young lady scoring on her first buck. Great job getting her in the right place at the right time dad.

Most excellent! Congratulations to the young lady hunter and her proud Dad.

Thanks, guys. I'm real proud of her. And she's proud of herself too lol. That buck is on the dinner menu tonight. Using some of the grind to make stuffed bell peppers.

This curious mind wants to know your recipe. What do you mix with the deer grind eliminate the dryness of the meat? I sometimes like to use a ratio of 60/40 or 70/30 with beef brisket to keep them juicy.

For stuffed peppers I usually just ad 1/2 cup sour cream per lb of burger and top with some type of shredded cheese. That usually ads a fair amount of moisture.

100% venison?

Congratulations to the young lady. I am sure this is the first of many. And "thank you" dad, for your support, guidance, patience and love --well done!
