Until I can hunt something big again! Maybe even nine...

Bear season opens here on August 1st, the area I like to hunt bear though opens September 1st.

There is a spring bear season. Draw only though.

In the meantime, coyotes beware! Dang, I miss hunting. My season was basically done in October, other than a real nice few days in November, hunting with my son. Seems like forever ago! Dang...

Anyone else just sort of wistfully reflecting on seasons past and impatiently waiting for 2013 big game hunting?

On the other hand, I suppose this is one reason I fly fish...

Ok - I'll stop now with the feeesh photos... Dang. I do have something to do between now and bear season!

There are always rockchucks Guy. They help get through the spring. For us we get to bait bears too and I'm sure will be baiting a bunch this spring.

A nice fish! I caught my first Stealhead last summer. A great feat considering that in my youth I spent thousands of hours on the Oregon coast freezing my, bats off, trying to catch a winter Stealhead, and failed. Fishing is not for everyone, apparently not for me anyway! Fish have an aversion to me.

Our State lottery for Axis season/high power starts in March. Our gang got thrid weekend.

Well, Guy, I don't have to wait quite as long. Black bear opens on April 1, and if I get a grizzly draw, April 1 as well. Moose opens on August 15. I'll manage some way.

I may try to bust a Tom turkey in April here in Missouri, but other than that Deer opens up mid Sept with stick and string. Rifle open on November 16th this year so it looks like a good year for a Bow Rut hunt. Looking to head west in 2014 to celebrate my 40th. Hard to believe the last time I was there was 2002..Been way too long.

Caribou season closes next week and then in Feb and March all we can hunt is Wolf, wolverine, Coyote and Bison
But in April, Elk, Black and Brown Bear season opens. Since Bison hunting is about as much fun as muskox hunting or a game of bingo, we only are looking for the wolf and the wolverine for the next two months.

And, Cheyenne, if I didn't have so many demands on my time, you may be assured that I'd be out looking for wolves and lynx. I turned down an opportunity to go out for these critters this past Saturday because of a lingering cough from this latest bout of flu. However, should I get past this cough...

Nice fish, Guy.
Nice outfit too. Winston with an Abel? Couldn't tell but the color was either that or Sage?

Cabin fever here too. Coyotes at night and a few day calls. Thinking of seeing if I can find some of those pigs we talked about a while back.

Thanks! St Croix 8 wt rod with my old Ross reel. This St Croix is a replacement rod, for the one I finally broke fighting a salmon after ten years of use. Love those Wisconsin built fly rods.

Yeah, Sage is here in Washington, and I like them too. Have a couple - but the St Croix is my favorite 8wt.

Just took a look at my favorite steelhead river a couple of hours ago. Fourteen degrees out and it's frozen over.

Regards, Guy

I have to wait 6 long months until we start hunting crop damage WT deer.
Only 6 months to come up with a new load. :)

Early April is one of my favorite times of the year. The big bears start waking up and moving about up high in the mountains. A couple of months away and I can't wait. My 300 RUM has proven to be quite nasty on bears, regardless of size.
