Went out after work and sat and watched my bear trail with a friend. a black bear came in and spotted us and wandered off before we could get a shot. About half an hour later it came back but sneaking up from our side and then got to where it could see us and directly started angling towards us. My friend took a 30 yrd shot with an 30-06, hit the bear in the shoulder and took out the lungs, It did take off, so I took a quick follow up shot with 35 whelen, Made the bear do a summersault mid stride. My buddy took another shot at the running bear. It went about 30 yards down hill before piling up and was dead. It was a small bear about 175-200 lbs. I was glad about this because that 30 or 40 yards was down off a steep ridge. Its alot easier dealing with a 200 lbs bear than a 350lb bear.
