Wow, that might be some kind of record! Love those accubonds, they are finicky until you find the sweet spot. Very nice rifle and load!

Nice looking rifles. Sure hope you connect this year. You've certainly got the right equipment and load.

I have high hopes drmike. This year we have faced some pretty bad drought and heat in the past few years that had made elk hunting even more challenging. But with the moisture we have received in the past few months and snow rolling in by the day in the high country. Hopes Keep rising.

Sas,
Real good looking guns you have there buddy. Best of luck to you this year. My Colorado hunt is for 4th season. Will be heading your way soon. I'm anxious to give my 300 RUM a chance with the 200 AB that's moving 3100 fps.

Don

Thanks don. Something about that cartridge screams dead anything in the cross-hairs. What area are you guys headed too

Sas,
Unit 76 in Creede, hunting Cows, and I hear it will be in the snow!!

Don

Ya. We have had some good early snowfall this year. I have not looked at the gmu map but there was a huge wildfire that threatened the town of south fork for about a week

Yeah I already know about the fire and some of the damage but I'm going anyway, going to make the best of it. You never know!

Don

Absoluetly! If anything just to get out and hunt. Quail starts the 4th and pheasant opens this weekend as well.

After the massive fires around the town of Tumbler Ridge (about 125 km from me) the elk population in the area boomed, beginning that very fall. I remember driving home in October and November and counting hundreds of elk grazing in the ditches. The growth of grass in the newly burned areas the following spring made for even more elk in the area. Pretty amazing.

Bingo!! Dr. Mike hit the nail on the head. That's what I'm hearing from my guys as well.

Don

May very well be. And I hope it happens here. But we are normally so dry it takes years for veggitation to come back. In fact the waldo canyon fire 2 years ago is only now starting to get green under brush. But I hope you guys have some luck. Reports of success have been slim since rifle seasons have started. Archery was tremendous this year for some monster bulls

Sas,
Dow reported after the fire in our hunt area, green vegetation was coming up this summer with deer and elk sightings in the burn areas. Anyway I still call it hunting, it's the reason to get out there and locate them.

Having lived in Colorado for 10-yrs and now living in the South, I just need a Colorado fix right now.
I miss the REAL MOUNTAINS!!!!!

I will be hunting with old friends and Family I haven't seen for awhile, getting some Elk would be icing on the cake.

Don
