Fireforming Update- Ruger 375 brass

The OP said brass and also mentioned factory loaded implying using the cases afterward.
They did complain of pricing of said loaded ammo so............🤷
So I refrained from suggesting forming their own.

But yes indeed there are many ways to skin a cat.

I gave the OP a specific GB listing to buy 50 new cases for $175

I'm getting into the 30 Kong world and $175 for 50 new pieces seems like a great deal to me 🤷
I appreciate the link. This is a budget project on a supposedly standard modern caliber. Buying the brass for the price of the gun isn't in the cards. It's a cast bullet shooter made of plastic, not a 1000 yard hunter. If I were going to use it for brown bear I would just buy some Nosler ammo.

Update,

Got thru by phone and spoke with Shawn. Couldn't tell me if forming from 300 would work without custom hydro die. He did say they made a batch of 375 Ruger in November. It must have gone fast. Maybe gunbroker. So it is not an orphan cartridge when it comes to brass, just a challenge or expense. Thanks for input. I will message Fotis.

Fireforming brass 300prc brass Fotis sized for me to 375.

Bullets seated into the lands. Only did 1 or two rounds of each to start.

240 g Cast plain base with green dot didn't work. 1100 fps

285 g Cast Gas Check with full power A5744, 1800 fps also did not do it. (See photo, left case)

Sierra 300 grain Jacket with starting load of Staball 6.5 worked and put the bullet thru the bull without adjusting scope. So that's a bonus. (Upper left hole from another gun.) Book velocity 2400 fps.

Heck Yeah!!!!!!

Can they be headspaced on the shoulder or do you need to Jam them in the lands.

Just prime a few cases and see if the all fire. No powder no bullet.

Also they will need to be annealed at some point.

I agree but they went from 308 to 375 in various stages (so I won't lose any) and then fireformed on top of that.
Necking up won't work harden them but firing will. Someone else said they anneal first before fireforming and I was saying new brass comes annealed, meaning there is no need for it.
