First 2011 big game hunt!

Guy -
A day out in the field with your son is better than almost anything you could do, regardless of the outcome. It looks like you are carrying "big-medicine" with you again this year!

sounds like fun.

I am waiting for the picture to come. !!!!!

Good luck in the warm weather, cooling next week.

Haven't been taking a lot of photos on our two spot & stalk hunts, but here's a couple more:

Youngest son, glassing for bear:

I told him that if he dared to shoot one down there, he could go get it himself!

Great pictures Guy! I know if the boy had of taken one down in that hole, Pop's would have been right behind him with the ruck on though! What a great place to hunt! Good luck and hope you all can get into more bears soon. Scotty

Guy, Always love to read your reports and look at those wonderful photos you take of some great looking country. It is as if I am there with you taking part in the hunt and looking at all of it with you. Beautiful country. Good photos. Hope you and your family have a good season this year. Al Crouch

I chuckled at your comment to your son. More than once I've passed on a shot because of steep terrain. Some animals are safe simply because of where they are found.

Guy those are great pictures and sounds like a wonderful time with your son. As others have said, it just doesn't get any better! That is some rough country you guys have there. I bet you would admit if pressured, that some of the best memories that you ever have and come to the surface immediately are some of the ones where you shoot an animal in a horrible spot and then work your buns off to get him out of there! The succulent meals later also seem to taste just a bit better.

Guy, Keep us updated. Love the reports...and great to see you out with your son! (Not surprised...just Great)! CL

Looks like a good start to the season for you guys. I see in your pic you have a couple of calls around your neck, what are they and have you had any luck using them. I tryed a fawn in distress for Black bear this past spring hunt, no luck though.

The calls are a new thing for me, re bear hunting anyway. Made by a fellow here in Washington. One is a hurt rabbit call, the other one... Well we're still trying to figure it out - but it's loud and low.

I'm going out the second week of September in the Blue Mountains looking for bear. Who makes those calls Guy?

Corey
