Found an orphan that needed a good home,

Had the day off on Monday so headed to the range about 2 pm. Took more ammo than I'd have liked to get it on paper, but I did manage to shoot one 1" 3 shot group at 100 yards before I was done. I'm going to load up some ammunition this week and see what she can do as I picked up some 225 grain Sierra's as well this weekend.

I saw a slightly used M700 Classic Whelen today, with a 3x9 Leupold EFR on it for 850.00... I think you got a great deal on that rifle! Scotty

Did it follow you home?

Heck no!

That one is going to haunt you later! ;)

That was WAY too much money. It would have been a little more tempting had it not been 850.00. The rifle had too many scratches and bumps to be considered a nice one. I can't imagine the scope was worth 200, maybe 250. Granted, with a little bit of work, it could have been a nice rifle, but I will stick with my CDL till Winchester makes me a proper Whelen!

Well if it was beat up I can understand. If I was interested, I probably would have pointed it out and made an offer. I didn't pay the asking price for the Whelen I just bought, not that the asking price was unreasonable. I just refuse to pay asking price on used rifles, and if the store had refused to deal on the price I'd have walked. I might have left them my number to call if they changed their minds when I walked though.

Yeah, always leave your number. Scotty, that Classic might have been a steal. Those particular rifles were well-built and shoot quite well. I'm still kicking myself for trading mine off. I should have kept it, just 'cause.

Mike you are going to get my 35 before me so that you can do break in and figure out a load for the 225gr AB.
When I talked with Travis last he advised that everything was in except the defiance action.
I hope to hear from them shortly. If it takes to spring maybe we will come and have coffee to pick it up
I am not sure if a flatter lander would be able to find the place but I might give it a shot

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,

My home is always open for coffee. There has been some problem in securing the Defiance actions recently. Delays are never fun, but sometimes necessary. Travis is a good one to keep you abreast of what is happening back there. I just spoke with him about another project just a short while ago. All the fellows are busy.
