I have never seen a post here mention federal fusion bullets, why? My dad shoots factory 30-06 with great results.

A good percentage of the posters here seem to roll their own and the Fusion bullet isn't available for component sale. I have tried the .270 130gr Fusion in a few rifles and they shot well and had very consistent velocities. My friend uses them with good results on WT deer and I recommend them to whomever asks me about which ammo to try.

I believe they are the best of the non-premium commercial ammo available and probably the best value ammo you can buy for any hoofed animal.

I've never used them. Everyone I know who has used them, is very satisfied with the performance of Federal Fusion ammo.

My brother uses the 7mm RM 175 gr load and my sister in law uses the 25-06 120 gr Fusion on a whole pile of deer with great results. My sister in law used the 7mm this fall to take a nice bull moose, one shot through the chest with the bullet exiting. Speer is making the flatbase version (DeepCurl) for handloading at one time they were going to release the boattail Fusion to hanloaders but nothing seems to happened yet. Looking forward to trying the 140 gr 6.5 Deepcurl in my 264 WM and 260 Rem.

I'm with Gerry. So far the Deep Curl has been impressive. I haven't shot factory ammo in awhile so I don't have a good opinion of what's out there. Scotty

Took two eight pointers this year with the .338 Federal shooting 200 grain fusions. Definitely left me with a warm fuzzy feeling and wouldn't hesitate using them again in the future. Wish I could of recovered a bullet to see how well it held up though.

Looking forward to seeing them. The fusions seem like really good loads. Federal did well releasing the lower cost loads as alot of folks are findin they are really premium bullets. Scotty

Why won't they sell just the bullet? I would reload with it if they did.

WT- they are buddy. It's called the Speer Deep Curl. Scotty

I have the same and have taken 3 deer and one cow elk with the Fusion ammo. Results are great so far. I'll probably try the Deep Curl in my 338 Federal and maybe the 243.

I have run some Fusions through my .338 Federal just to try some factory loads in it and to get the cases. Accuracy was certainly acceptable and hovered around MOA for 5-shot groups at 100 yards, a little more at 200 yards. Velocity was as advertized, adjusted for barrel length and no issues with them. Seemed to be good ammo for the price.

I could only find 225 grain .338 bullets on speers website. Would they work in the 338 Federals shorter case?

Yes.

Sorry, not a reloader (Yet). Only seen factory loads for it up to 210 grain and never seen anyone mention going over 210 on there own either. Just figured maybe 210 was pushing it for the .308 case.

Bill, see, now you have something to ask for, for Christmas!

I think that 210 around 2600 would be pretty awesome in the 338 Federal. Kinda like the 225 PT in the 358 Win. Just a well balanced cartridge / bullet combo. Scotty

I have a .338 Federal and I also reload for it. Most of what I load are 200 grain bullets because I can get about 2600+ fps from them in my 22 inch barreled Sako. The 225 Grain bullet is somewhat longer in .338 caliber than the 200 grain and takes some space in the reloading chamber. Other than that, thay shoot great and are accurate. They however will not, in my rifle at least, go more than about 2460 fps muzzle velocity. So, I use the 200 grain bullets for everything. Keeping in mind that I have a ,340 Weatherby to do the heavy lifting.

Thats good scoop Charlie. Still nothing wrong with a 210 at that speed. With you having the 340 for the big work, not too much of a hole in your medium bores.. Scotty
